well you could also say that many people are going to eat kfc anyway. including myself on a cheat meal etc.. so while i go buy myself a bucket i might as well put it towards a good cause..

I think that KFC is trying improve their PR. Why wouldn't they do this campaign in October? Probably because it wouldn't get the attention they want to help improve their image. Why not promote breast cancer research and a healthier lifestyle by only making the grilled chicken, pink buckets. Maybe increase the price of the pink bucket by a dollar during the campaign. If people are really interested in helping, they won't care about the $1 increase. Or maybe for $1 you support breast cancer and they will serve your chicken in a pink bucket.

any company doing charity is partly to do with PR and tax reasons, this is business and it has been done for ages.

BUT, its still money going towards a good cause at the end of the day.

I agree, at the end of the day if the charity gets money, that's what matters most. My disappointment is with KFC and I feel like they are piggy backing on something so important to sell there chicken. Sort of taking advantage of those who really care about breast cancer research and treatment.

how is it different then when every single company got in line to donate money to Haiti after the earthquake?

the whole point of a company is to profit and succeed. you really think any of those company's were doing it because they were good people? no, they get good PR from having their names listed on the news and they get tax benefits.

I don't think they are any different. It's mostly about the timing.

I'm sure you have heard of the smell test. Where if you see or hear something and you kind of make that squinting face when there is a funny smell in the air. This doesn't pass the smell test to me.

Do you agree that they could have done a similar campaign without being so self-indulgent and would have pass the smell test making their efforts more genuine?

                        yes.

but when was the last time any type of charity from a major company past the smell test?

exactly. and thus my point, you can make your argument for every charity from any company etc..
