  • Speeding ticket question

So back in November I got a speeding ticket on the Palisades Parkway in NJ. Now I live in NY. Forgot to pay it and yesterday I got a letter saying there's a warrant out blah blah. Does that shit travel over state lines?

    yes.

i doubt they will come after you BUT the next time you go to renew your license or passport etc.. you will have problems.

if you get pulled over they will see the open warrant and again.. you will have problems.

anytime anyone does a background check, that will show up.

dont be a dumbass, take care of it.

Oh i'm definitely gonna take care of it. I was just wondering if it really does now transfer over state lines. I remember in the past it didn't.

        what is this 1930?

warrants follow your name everywhere. its not about state lines.

i think you are confusing shit like points on your license. that sort of thing dosent travel with you.

timma you better take care of this quick.

just did some more reading about people that got speeding tickets in other states and didn't pay it.

it seems that the state you got the ticket in will notify your current state and in most cases your current state will suspend your license until the warrant and ticket are paid.

Call the court. Depending on the judge, sipoy paying it at this point may not solve it. The judge has the discretion to withdraw the bench warrant. He also has the right to force you into court. SO check with them to see what is needed

It was all part of the Real ID act.

Take care of ASAP Timma. They will cause major issues. Few friends have been in that situation, nothing but a headache

What doesn't make sense is that you have a warrant out for your arrest as oppose to having your DL suspended....You must of had a court date and NOT showed up, maybe I missed it in your post....A warrant never gets canceled until the person is arrested/dead or bonded on it....
he didnt pay the ticket nor did he show up in court to contest it. thats pretty obvious. dumb prick

When you don't pay your ticket you automatically get sent a court date to the address on your license or another address if you tell the officer. Its your duty to show up for court and keep the court informed of your new address if you move or anything prior to your court date

If you don't show up for your court, you get a warrant out for your arrest.

So next time Timma's license gets runned, it will show up and you'll have a lot of explanation to give to the officer, lol

when you get a speeding ticket you either pay the ticket or you go to court. its obvious he didnt pay the ticket nor did he go to court and thus the reason he has the warrant.

hmm... it might vary state to state. When I got my speeding ticket, I never paid it. A week after I got sent a bill, they sent me a court date and it stated that if I didn't show up there would be a search warrant for me.

rado, on the ticket in new jersey you have the option to just pay it or go to court. there is a court date on the back of the ticket should you choose to go in an contest it.

you said above "You must of had a court date and NOT showed up".

I am saying its pretty obvious he did not show up, if he had shown up or paid the ticket he would not have made this post in the first place. lol

not here. you dont get sent a court date after the fact. right on the back of the ticket when you get pulled over is a place where they write the court date. you can either go to court or just pay the ticket online etc..
