Gum-ball machines / vending machines

You guys know anyone that keeps gumbball machines in restaurants or kids places? It seems like a pretty small investment. Nice machines are less than 200 dollars and gumballs are less than a penny each in bulk. (24 cent profit per gumball isn't terrible)

I would think the best strategy would be to watch for new restaurants opening around town and contact the owner to work out a deal. Perhaps a 20% take for the owner?

Also, I was thinking about some ideas like adding a special "swirl gumball" that would get you a free appetizer, drink etc. for the next visit to the restaurant. This would give the customers more incentive to buy a gumball and also bring them back to the restaurant.

Anyone know someone who does this type of thing?

Same here. I think a distributer comes in and sells the machines to the restaurants then just get them filled by the vendors for the price of the gumballs, but the restaurant keeps all the profits.

Blow me. I would never just have one machine. And 24 cents a pop for doing hardly any work isnt a bad deal if you have enough machines. I'd have a new Vette in no time! :weights:

How do you figure that? The gumball machine manufacturers do not service or fill the gumballs. This would mean small business restaurant owners would have to keep the gumballs stocked which I'm sure not all of them want to put in the effort of doing.

I said distributor not manufacturer. There have to be tons of vending machines vendors around you. Thats who does all the stocking and shit.

No they do not. They charge for the product which has profit built in. I don't think they take a cut of the money that goes in the machines though.

Look at the links Rado just posted. All of the gumball refills are shipped. I have searched for like 20 minutes and I haven't found a single vendor that does the filling for you.

Another thing is those toy grabbers. I can't imagine the owners of the local Denny's are taking the time to fill those up with toys.

that is how it is. i've seen plenty of things like this via the family business. ATMs, prepaid cell phone card machines, soda companies, we've had gumball machine people come in too. they sell you the machine/unit and then maintain it. sometimes they turn it around sell the merchandise (soda, gumballs, whatever) but don't maintain or fill the unit.

the machines around here are owned by venders... Seems like a desent buisness but you need alot of machines.Look for someone trying to sell out who already has the machines set up.
