Maybe you assholes can help me out - Leather Sofa question

Bonded leather is 'bonded' to other materials not just "pieces" of leather. You also have places that advertise "touch" leather which means the parts that normally 'touch' the sofa (ass, arms, and back) touch leather and the other parts are bonded leather or some fabricated material.

My suggestion is, don't get anything other than 100% leather. We just bought a new sofa and sold our old set. I bought the sofa and love seat 13 yrs ago for 4k (including tables and ottomans) and just sold the used furniture last night for $500. The only sign of wear on the old leather was fade from routinely cleaning it and sag in the lower back areas. The last 3 years my dog used it as a playground when I was not home and it still never ripped. I will never buy anything but leather. It's worth the extra money.

From all of the ones we looked at it appeared thinner and less durable. I used the train of thought "if my dog decided to run through the house and across this sofa will his nails puncture it" and most of time the answer was, yes. Only the 100% leather sofas felt like an actual animal hide made into furniture (as it should). The others felt looked like leather and felt thin and leather-ish. The price differences are very reflective of the differences.
