Not really looking for style ideas etc.. More about any lessons you learned along the way that I should know about. Anything you would change etc..

I would look into subfloor heating with non carpet floors. If I had to do my house over again I'll put it in for sure.

On that point I would do say that so long as you have insulation laid under, then in the case of laminate or vynl then UFH is unnecessary and very expensive to run in electric form.

Not sure about stone floors but if you think it needs it I would first explore running you central heating water filled pipes under, this would save lots of dollar just by piggybacking off your existing system instead of buying a separate electric one.

My last house I put in 20 x 20 on the angle and had them make small grout lines. looked super clean almost like a solid floor.

new house has hard wood. hard wood looks better IMO but tile is durable

again last house i had granite and left it un polished so it looked like soap stone. My new house has polished granite and i liked the dull look better.
I belive soap stone needs to be cleaned better than granite or tile something about it be pours and bacteria gets in the stone its self. Not 100% on that as I dont remember exactly

                      yep!

Bouncer, we're redoing our entire basement right now, bathroom, bar, cabinetry, porcelain tile, entertainment area.... should be completely done by April. I'll post some pictures and maybe something will catch your eye. Also had a 500+sf concrete patio poured last summer, sorta cool. I think I have a picture of that.

                              That patio does look cool.

Yea keep the comments and pics coming, will come in handy when I really get into it all.

Rocket I will have to look into that thing about bacteria and soapstone.

yes concrete is cool you can color it and you can stamp it to make it look like anything. I have a slate stamp on all my concrete so it looks like slate rock. i didnt color it at this house cuz alot was already done (drive way ect)cost to much to tear out just for color. But starting fresh in the back yard color and stamp is the way to go.
Pavers are cool also but alot more maintance and cost alot more
