my job gives 2 weeks paid vacation leave, 1 week unpaid vacation, 1 week personal days, 3 days for bereavement, and 1 week for unpaid sick leave. and that's right off the bat for a new-hire. for every year you work there, you get another week of paid vacation. you can always purchase more if you want. maternity leave maxes out at 2 months and i'm not sure about paternity leave.
i think most federal government positions allow for less time off in terms of paid vacation but you can always request more or a coworker can donate their unused time to you at their discretion. but they also have furlough days and they typically get a lot more days off during the year.
i'm just going to find a sugar daddy and be on vacation for the rest of my life.

I get 3 weeks vacation, 1 week sick time and all federal holidays off. I can have overtime a 1.5 hourly rate or doubletime on weekends. What I do is put it on the "books" as "comp" time. I build it up and take off as needed so time off is never an issue for me and no taxes for uncle sam that way!!!. To me time off is way more valuable then money. So like right now I have 6 weeks vac saved up 2 sick days and 32 hours of "comp"
( which is low for me but duck season just ended...lol). And I just took 10 days in NOV to go guck hunt in Missouri and 2 weeks off for Christmas.. I use the comp time for a lot of time off during the week for hunting a few hours in the am or a day off in the summer during the week to go out on the boat when the seas are good and the fish are there...works out great.... Dont work too many 40 hour weeks now that I have it built up....Last edited by lipripper; 02-05-12, 04:38 AM.
