the difference with updates is this... the ones you need on a mac are the only ones prompted. and even then you don't HAVE to install them. with the Windows OS system, you almost always have to update because plug-ins and programs stop working until you do.

the other thing is that yes, there is always an argument for one or the other, but generally speaking, people who are familiar with both OSs typically prefer mac. the general experience is better and friendly.

I dont own one correct; due to cost. You can sit on your pompous holier than thou know it all high horse and make claims based on a jaded and limited experience. I based mine one years and hundreds of hours of use and experience. Some of the clients we work with only use mac systrms and the projects are stress free. The clients with windows based systems are always a nightmare. You have no real experience so shut the fuck up. I gave my opinion and I will let it at that.

They are so amazing and stress free that you don't feel the need to buy one yourself. Lmao. Deep down you know you agree with me on some level. They are not worth what they charge.

I was a windows user all my life...was really reluctant to switch to mac. even kept a parallel of windows on my imac in case i ever wanted to switch between mac and windows... didnt use it once and ended up deleting the windows partition.

just the opposite here. windows user all my life and was thinking i might get one about a year back. sana got hers and i messed around with it for a couple weeks and it sealed the deal for me that i would never buy a mac computer. for me its gimmicky. to me windows is meat and potatoes, macs are steamed carrots with rose pedals. its leaner and prettier but it just doesn't ever replace the core meat and potatoes!

i am betting that you will agree with me. they are neat to play with when you first get it but then you realize after about 2 weeks you are doing the exact same things you would be doing on your windows machine but the windows machine is half the price. lol

Windows vs. Mac is a religious argument. No right answer. I have used both, Mac at home (my son's computer is a Mini Mac) and Windows at work and home. In my experience:

1. Macs are overpriced and underperforming relative to PCs.

2. Macs generally are better integrated with a better user experience.

3. In order to get Point 2, can you put up with Point 1? Depends on you.

4. There are certain applications that seem to be Mac-centric. Publishing, art, etc. seem to be dominated by Macs, maybe due to this integration aspect. Don't know if this is something inherent, or whether the artistic types (who may be technology-phobic) just like the user experience better.

5. Games? PCs all the way.

6. In my experience, the PC is crash-prone, the Mac is rock steady is overblown. Especially with Windows 7. The thing is rock steady in my experience.

I think bottom line is that with Windows 7, the Windows to Mac user experience different is a lot closer than in the past. I'm not sure I really feel there is a significant difference in general.

The last part of what you said is what I'm figuring will happen. I'm sure I can find a "pretty" PC. You have what, Lenovo? I don't know anything about that, but I want something that looks clean and clear, etc. And sort of want a big screen (for whatever reason).:retard:

Do a lot of reading of reviews and go out and take a look at PCs. We buy HPs and Lenovos at work and I think in general, Lenovos seem to have less quirky behavior. But this is a very limited comparison, so nothing beats reading reviews on the net, looking at feedback on sites like Amazon, etc. and building up some statistics.

There are som nice looking machines made by lots of PC vendors, they almost look Mac-like if looks are important.

Also important: I have a big screen laptop for work. It's got a huge screen with an exaggerated aspect ratio. The only problem with big screen computers is that it weighs a TON. Think about what you are going to do with it. If you are going to lug it around, let me tell you, that shoulder bag will get mighty heavy in a hurry with one of the big screen laptops. A smaller machine may be more suitable for true portability.

But if you are using it primarily as a home laptop for sitting on the couch, then large screen is fine.
