    yea, replaced it with gmail within 10 minutes of getting it.

    thats the main thing you have to get used to coming from apple. you dont use the stock crap that comes with it like you do with apple.

    i am about 30 minutes north west of the city. definitely darker skies here then i am use too in jersey.

    Hard to see in the city. You've got to get out to somewhere there's less light pollution. Check and see if there are any amateur stargazing clubs around where you are. A good observation site is probably only a short drive away.
