Where Would You Guys Live and Why

My wife and I are in a unique situation right now. We both work remotely via the Internet and we can basically live wherever we want to live (in the US not HI or Alaska due to product shipping issues). We are currently in Arizona, Scottsdale and ready to move somewhere else. Will probably be moving in September, just need to choose a place. Where would you guys go if you could live anywhere? Cost of living isn't a factor. I think weather and the people are the biggest factor for us as we don't have much family and will need to meet new friends. We both like to be near a big city and don't want to be in a small hick town. Anywhere redneck/republican like the deep south is completely out of the question even if I were given a 10 million dollar house there I wouldn't live there. My wife loves the ocean but hates natural disasters (hurricans, earthquakes)

Here are some places on our list:
San Francisco Area, napa valley
San Diego Area, specifically Carlsbad CA
Boulder Colorado
NY, Brooklyn (have some friends there)
South Florida (sunny isles beach/north Miami)
or Stay in Scottsdale (too damn hot in the summer, brutal)

you have it in your second pick. San Diego. NO where else will have that perfect weather. you dont mind big city traffic I take it cuz traffic sucks if you wanna go somewhere but in Carlsbad itsself you are ok just stay off freeways,lol
again weather is why i would live anywhere and nothing beats SD.

Carlsbad is beautiful but you are bit to far from the city. If cost is no option then I'd do La Jolla.
I had a time share in carslbad as nice as it was, it was prety boring.

I love Florida, so I'd go with south Florida. However, if you think Arizona is too hot, you may want to reconsider. The heat is different, because it's SO humid.

As far as natural disasters - yes, we have hurricanes, but it's not like we have a lot. And even the ones we have, it's not "often" that they are devastating. I wouldn't put too much weight into that. :)

I would look at Monterey area, La Jolla or some such place near San Diego, beach towns south of LA, etc, perfect weather 365 days a year.

Issue I have with cali is the beaches. Pacific is always cold and you don't get that Caribbean clear water like you do in South Beach / Ft Laderdale.

Actually if you are in Carlsbad, La Jolla or San Diego, water is very warm because they get the warm Mexican gulf water and La jolla have pretty clear water. In fact most of the cove is an under water park for snorkeling and diving. I'd do La Jolla in a heart beat.
