Are they emergency exits or just exits? When I was a kid we would buy one ticket and then someone would go and let the rest of us in though those back doors. They will probably be locked and for emergency use only now.

True. Could have been a back exit door.

As I play the "what if" game again, I was just playing with the flashlight beside my bed. It has a nice strobe function, what if a person in the theater had one of those? Not every weapon has to be lethal. This nutjob had on helmet, googles, and mask, his visibility is already pretty fucked, then light him up with a strobe beam of light. Disorientating him for 15 seconds is HUGE.

Yea that's gonna do something in a room full of people where you just have to pull trigger in any direction.

15 seconds is huge. Better then just laying and waiting to die. Maybe 3 get out that would have died in that time. I told you this was a fantasy land thought.

Yeah, I make $10 an hour! I'm not taking down a armed guy dressed in full swat gear....LOL.

The only thing that could've stopped this would have to be tighter security at the theater. Locked doors, cameras being monitored by security officers, shit like that. Even if law abiding citizens where in the with guns he still would have shot a bunch of people before they get their guns out and take him down. I wonder if things will change at theaters now? I know I might plan my seating a little differently now.

Criminals, psychos, etc would still find a way around all of that security. Crazies will always find a way to do their crazy shit.

false. security measures work despite what you want to believe about going against the man and freedom.

crazies will be crazies but this particular incident could have been stopped.

Yes they do work. I personally have never been in a theater that had non alarmed doors leading outside.

Shit in red=Mr. I? I don't where that angle came from.

Security measures can help no doubt... just how far do you take it though... we are all loosing our freedom for a random act of terror. So now ya need to get to the movie theater 2 hours early...just like the airport to go thru security.. Stupid.. next there will be metal detectors at applebees and walmart too..

Lets take an example of security cameras... just this past week a mob of aprox 300 teenagers swarmed a walmart in jaxsonville fla...they all ran into the store at the same time went wild in the store did a big grab and run. no cops called untill afterwards,,,why?

You would think that the security cameras in the parking lot would have shown a mob building up and comming towards the store. No way they arrivwe in a min and all came inside..It had to take time in the parking lot for all to get gathered up and then make their move... this could have been prevented if the security guards took action..or were even watching the security cameras... called the cops for a large gathering in the parking lot. But it didnt happen... So My point is even with "standard" security systems in place shit is still gonna happen.... a nut job is a nut job and your gonna have a real hard time stopping one without taling everyones freedoms and liberties away. thats just a fact guys.

What would stop him from running his car thru the line of people waiting to get tickets then jumping out and blazing away with a standard hunting shotgun??? NOTHING...

we live in a different world now and people need to think about situations they put themselves in when out in public. I have always found a seat in a restruant where I can watch the door or try to see the most of the facility. I always think about which way I put my back when I take a seat. I always have my family on the inside of the booth with me on the outside so I can react..by react I mean it could just be for a drunk asshole.. I always sit so my heavy side is outside for an easy draw and not blocked by having my son daughter or wife sitting along my right side. Its little things like this that can make a big difference. You cant expect big brother to protect you with security measures always, you have to think for yourself and always..ALWAYS use situational awarness everywhere you go and with everything you do in life. I choose to live like this probably due to a lot of the training I have been thru, just like cops do as well. Most people never even think about the little things and walk around blind in life. Im always and I mean always on defense.

The world is a fucked up place but its still for the most part I want to believe got a lot of good people.... its the fucking nutjob that you never see comming that cant be prevented that you have to be prepared for if your ever find yourself in that situation.
