I do not believe in religion and church whatsoever! It's written, set up, controlled and managed by human beings. There is too much inaccuracy in translation of old textes (also written by humans) and far too much interpretation of how a religion should be enforced and manifested. All I see is dirty politics, power struggles and pure greed and it covers practically all religions. It just serves to control (masses). Look at the world today and you realise that if there is a god he has longtime turned his back on us.
I believe that something divine is initially in all beings of this planet, it soimetimes just get lost in us humans...

Of course I believe in heaven :) and their is a lot of proof to prove this. Their has been many pictures of angels in the background (just recently, I child with cancer died, but he always said he would talk to his guardian angel, and in a picture, his guardian angel is in the background)

plus, how could you explain stigmatas (sp) that people get during easter?

just something to think about it :)

                  Very well said.

I've seen how the church and it's members turn their backs on people in REAL NEED. I've seen how one "Christian" religion will criticize another to the point of saying that they're not Christian. It's insane and sad at the same time.

I equate Christianity (and most major religions) to being very similar as believing in Santa Clause. It's a legend passed down with good intentions...it can help some people be happy by giving them something to look forward to, it can help some people do the right thing out of a fear of god...fearing a loss of a reward at the end if we're not good during this lifetime. This is how we manuver and discipline children...do this or that will happen.

Doing things just to get a reward at the end or to not be punnished is one thing, but to do good things because you simply want to and not expect anything in return is better.

Yes, I have seen many so called Christians ,lie, cheat, backstab, maime, destroy, kill...you name it. No matter how religious you are, there is still that human element called "Choices". You have the choice to do it...or not do it. He gives us free will.

And one other thing...all of you that have children??? Look at your kid and say there isn't a God? If it were strickley biological...all siblings should be the same, but they are all unique like the rest of us.
Just my 2 cents worth... :)

I just don't get it...a god that allows babies to be born deformed, mentally disabled, conjoined, and worst of all...born to some parents who aren't fit to raise children...who will beat and mentally abuse them...who will not care for them, yet there are so many loving couples who can not concieve. This is a loving god? Christians say that god does this for a reason...what kind of reason could there be for these kinds of things?

Wish I had all those answers. I don't like seeing any of that stuff either. People who beat and abuse these kinds of people are wicked. Another Choice that is made in their life. I think alot of abnormalities come from our own tinkering with medical and biological stuff thru the years. I just try to do the best that I can and not ever hurt people intentionally. Seems to get worse as the years go by though when you read the news. Scary world out there.

Thats sad but it happens, but how do you know that God is responsible for this? What about the devil? This world is no where near perfect but heaven is perfect :)

I had posted this on FG a while back:

"Although I am Catholic, I don't buy into the whole bible/Jesus/devil/heaven/hell thing. IMHO, I believe that man's struggle to comprehend things which do not have a rational explanation in terms of his physical and mental capabilities leads him to label or "fill in the gaps" of the things which he can not understand.

By creating a god or devil, he has rationalized and made whole in his mind something which he can not explain.

The comfort one enjoys by having a god or devil as opposed to trying to figure out why there are black holes or why people like
Hitler exist frees them from spending time of having to prove why and allows us to create and explore our world more fully."

I do believe that what you do in life and how you treat people is the most important aspect of our lives. I guess this would be a "Karma" type belief, I believe that how I treat people and how I conduct my daily life is very important, that this will come around to help or hurt me in the future. I do not need an organized religion to tell me this, and although it may sound somewhat contradictory here, I think there must be a "higher power" of sorts somewhere along the line.
