I don't understand how we address the mental health aspect? Half the country is on some sort of medicine for mental issues or depression. I'm pretty sure most of the mass shootings were all done with legally bought guns by citizens who passed whatever background check we have in place.

Instead of me plagiarizing listen to video below. It shows how the UK has more violent crimes then the US and we have 6 times more metropolitan areas with population over 250K people. I think he sums it up perfect at the end when saying we need to go to the neighborhoods where majority of these crimes are taking place and figure out how to improve the poverty level, how to create jobs and how to improve the education system.

Also, bad guys don’t care about gun laws. They don’t care that if a sign says “gun free zone”. They don’t care if assault rifles are banned. They will continue to purchase firearms illegally. It’s like saying we should make drugs illegal when the US spends over 15 billion dollars a year on the war on drugs. Passing laws to eliminate guns only takes guns away from the responsible owners and not the criminals.

As far as protecting our kids in schools... I think teachers should have the option to carry concealed in schools IF they take appropriate gun classes and training. The same gun training that cops are required to take. Not sure about you but if someone was able to walk into your child’s school and they were there for the intent to murder innocent children, would you rather have a teacher call the cops and wait 5-10 minutes for them to show up. Or would you rather have trained guard(s)/teacher(s) there to help protect your children??
