I know that they are at two ENTIRELY different ends of the spectrum. What I'm saying is no matter what it is that you are looking for whether it be pump-action or semi-auto, or whatever it is that you want to use it for, you can't go wrong with picking one of those mfgr's over the others. AGREED?
As far as the AR over AK debate. It's all about personal preference, I guess. I like both, they both have their good and bad points, but in the mean time I'll keep my BARRETT M82A1.
agreed cant go wrong with either or the rem 870 either anothe great gun.
only wish I could afford a Barret:panic:
Oh btw ROCKET, I've read some of your other posts and I've been waiting on you as well as a couple other vets of this forum to weigh in on my thread with your thoughts, opinions, advice, etc. etc...
ya what thread bro of coarse! link it and I will check it out
Good advice in here. I think a Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 is going to be a solid bet for you in terms of a shotgun. They are rugged, parts are readily available, as well as just about any manner of customization. Semi-autos are fun, I carry an M-4 but for the situation your describing, you want a gun that will take abuse. If you dial it in correctly you can hit out to 200 with it. In an urban setting that is adequate for distance, and you have the additional benefit of a home defense gun. Rifle wise any AK or AR variant is going to cost you a significant amount as the market value has skyrocketed. Unfortunately they are pretty much the standard for the scenario you are talking about. In terms of taking abuse, the AK is king, although just. ARs are generally going to be accurate to a greater distance. I have carried M4's in some very shitty environments without fail. It's a great idea to buy a decent stripped lower and build a gun around that if your into that-I have done that myself.
oh man I didnt know you carry the M4 I knew I liked you for some reason. that is by far my favorite gun in my stash. I shhot only slugs at the range but load it with 00buck for home. shh dont tell anyone but I also have a 14" entry barrel

Yup its a great shotgun-I love carrying it. I have done work with it and it performs well..12 gauges really do make everything better :) 14 inch is definitely and CQB setup, and probably a hoot to shoot.
Another thing I was thinking about in terms of application that the OP mentioned, and another reason a pump gun might be better solution is that you can get a different barrel length, type etc. and swap relatively easy. Gives you a bit more versatility as well in a SHTF scenario.

good point a 14" works great in your house but not out in the field trying to get dinner. id take a 24" for that.

rocket knows many things and has been doing it a long time. but you don't want nutrition advice from him. trust me.
example I eat chicken breast and brown rice all day eveyday and I will swap up the brown rice for brown rice pasta thats it all day everyday.
to be honest have not done that in about a year but used to do it all the time in the summer.
I will do it again as I have a itch to get back in ring and smash someone so i have to look good just in case I loose I still look good, lol

Instead of the barrett, why don't you look into the Cheytac Intervention ( Now Available ) It's about half the price of the Barrett and just as wonderful a firearm. It's actually more accurate on FTP than the Barrett, or so they say. This is also their marketing angle of trying to knock the Barrett out of military use. WHATEV' Good luck with that. I know what works, how it works, and how hard it is to get it to work ( it's not. ) That's why I love it!

Duly Noted. But I figured since he looked really old in his pic and was still in good shape, he may have some good training regimens. LOL, just kidding ROCKET...

Yeah I might have a bit of a problem eating that and that alone. But then again...
It is by far my favorite smiley ever made! :D:panic:
Hate to admit it but im a bit of an apocalypse nut. Not crazy but i just want to be prepared if anything were to happen. So an AR and a shotgun would definitely come in handy in case any kind of traumatic natural even were to happen and cali went crazy.
Ps. Its really the idea of the next big earthquake to hit us. No doubt should be big. Just want to be prepared… minor Earthquakes dont frighten me too much but the idea of a huge 9+magnitude scares the shit out of me
:panic::panic::rofl:
1. Bro you have to relax a little bit. If something like that happens there isn't going to be a damn thing you can do about it, except cause yourself more anxiety. Not to mention spend a shit ton of money on ammo. I know because I do the same thing, not necessarily with quakes, don't have that problem in the dirty south FL. However, we have other problems, such as people who want to go around and eat other people's face off!! So for that I give 3:panic::panic::panic:.
2. Check out some of the things I posted about different firearms. You say you can't own a handgun. I won't give the definition of what a handgun is, but that is entirely how it is perceived. In other words, there are ways around that, I'm sure ROCKET can attest to that.
3. Have you ever thought about custom built like FUNNIIRISHMAN was referring to? It may be something for you to do, especially if you want to custom tailor it to your specific needs and have the financial capability. I have contacts for people that do this if you're interested.
Just some food for thought...
If I can be of any assistance just let me know.
