If you bought a new high end car, would you expect to have to rebuild the engine every 6 months? No you expect it to just work. That's what apple products do. They work, by themselves and together seemlessly.

Sure you can by a crap pc with windoz 8 (abomination) for $300 bucks.
You can also buy a ford pinto hatchback. The cheap price doesn't make you smart, and you almost always get what you pay for.
