The DOE is putting a lot of money into battery research - hope some of it pans out and we make a breakthrough there. That's what's holding things up. If we can get a battery that can do a few hundred miles between charges and we have a battery swap infrastructure that will give you a fresh battery in the same time that it takes to fill up a tank of gas, I think electrics will take off.
Forget about range anxiety. Elon Musk says a 500-mile range Tesla is coming soon | Digital Trends

Awesome! 500 miles? If Musk can pull that off, he'll achieve automotive immortality. Now, we will need a rapid battery exchange infrastructure but that will come. Very exciting!

The real game changer comes when that kind of range can be achieved at a price at or under 35k. Preferably a much faster recharge rate as well. The day will come when recharging the battery is close to as fast as filling up your gas tank. I predict it will be 5-7 years from now.

Yeah, within the next 10 years. We are close. And the price will come down. Just think of all the stuff that used to be only found in top end cars that are now in even entry level cars.

Any tech really. I get sick to my stomach looking at the price of 60 inch TV's at Costco for $999.00...

I paid $4500 for a DLP 60 inch piece of crap in 2005.

            Bah
