OK guys the hard drive upgrade is complete, well aside from some update files and dlc for games downloading.
Pretty simple processes that worked great. The hard drive inside that Seagate external I listed from amazon is actually a Samsung drive which is also what I pulled out of my day 1 ps4. Easy to take out of the ps4 and directly fit in, and the new one was also easy to bust out of the enclosure.
I do have to say though Sony needs to make the process easier for transferring files. I had to go into each user on my PS and go into each game individually for saving profiles/game saves. They really need a "back up all data" option here. One of my boys doesn't have a PSN account so his game saves were gonzo. Also they have no provisions for backing up the actual game files so if you use discs you need to reinstall every game or are download. This is very time consuming so I suggest doing a drive replacement asap after PS purchase, immediately if possible. Even if you use psn+ you need to redownload all your game profiles and saves individually so it isn't much of a time saver. This is by far the most lengthy process in the whole ordeal especially if you have a full PS drive and 3 accounts :)
The 2tb formatted to 1.76tb so it should last a few years. By then bigger drives will be available and cheaper or newer PS model with bigger drive up preinstalled.
If you guys have any questions let me know and I'll help out.
