Cmon though he was an awsome wrestler, trained some bjj with gracie and was a freak with punching powerOriginally posted by blm View PostBrock Lesnar proved how far brute strength could go with minimal training/experience.
Not just a big strong guy
If you want an example of brute strength and size in his early carrear just look at bob sapp who came in and trashed K1, beating Ernesto hoost twice.
He should have retired there before people studied his weakness

Referring to mma and bjj. His size and strength was a significant factor of his early success against smaller heavyweights. It wasn't until he met guys his equal that he got destroyed.Originally posted by Bouncer View PostI don't know much about this stuff but saying lesnar has minimal skill seems odd to me.

Who wins? Technique bro....not giving you a hard time, but reality is technique wins and rarely size wins in Bjj.....this is a FACT....I've been to enough comps and competed enough to know.Originally posted by Bouncer View Post300lbs of muscle that has a couple years BJJ training VS 115lbs guy with same skill level. who wins?
assuming the big guy has some flexibility with the years of bjj training then yes, there is certainly a point where power wins the day.
So in essence here for the argument on size strength in bjj....technique rules:agreed:

Base is where it's all at....you got no base, you got shit:agreed:Originally posted by Mr I View PostRado one of the first things I'm learning is keeping base when ontop in side control is hugely depleting on opponents. Used in short bursts to improve position it's very effective
In bjj I can use my strength in surges but if I try and use all the time I just burn out.
It's a bit like nitrous oxide in a car
And I've never said strength doesn't do justice in bjj...I'd be shooting my own self for that comment.

Lesnar was never a 100% his intestine was leaking fecal matter into his stomach. He had to have surgery and never made a full comeback. He still beat several well established mma fighters regardless.Originally posted by blm View PostReferring to mma and bjj. Bobby Lashley has no martial arts background yet his mma record is 12-2. He was never submitted or ko'd. One loss was due to dehydration and another was a unanimous decision. Size and strength matter.
Edit: actually Lashley was tk'od but it was due dehydration and he was hospitalized after the fight.Last edited by TrapsBrah; 03-03-15, 01:16 PM.
