  • Summer vacation plans?

So are you guys taking some time off to do some traveling?

We are gong to be on the road a lot this summer. We are renting a beachouse on the Oregon coast in June for a week after school is out. Then it is off to Costa Rica for 10 days in July, and to cap it off, we are planning a giant road trip to Yellowstone NP and Grand Teton NP in August. Would love to do Glacier as well, and we would have done it if we weren't going to Costa Rica.

Would love to see what everyone else is planning!

I'm heading to Tennessee next week for the week. I'm looking forward to relaxing there.

July 4th will be a cruise to Key West and Mexico. It isn't all that exciting, and I've done it before, but it's what the kids wanted to do.

We always go to the Keys the last week of the July without the kids. :)

I've always wanted to go to Corfu after reading Gerald Durrell.

From my perspective Corfu is tainted as a cheap boozy stag destination where drunk brits go to puke and spread STD or take drugs and piss in the street. Like Marbella or Ibiza

I prefer off beat lesser known locations

Hmmm... didn't know about that. I always pictured Corfu as a place where I can rent a villa up in the hills among the olive trees and bougainvilleas and come down to the beach once a day.

Indeed, and Ibiza surely has scenic parts such as old town and im sure Marbella outer is genuine and pretty, just for me they are tainted by their proximity to the shifty parts

Dubrovnik in contrast had no such issue

Costa Rica will be a whole new kind of trip for you right? Never did the beach/snorkeling/tropical type trip have you?

As for me, I have a whole lot of exploring central and northern Cali to do. My mom will probably fly out for my birthday and she's always wanted to see Hurst castle so I'll probably take her to see that.

I have been to Hawaii several times and have snorkeled there, but yeah, the Caribbean is a different experience, I think. Looking forward to it. Not sure how much snorkeling we will do, as Costa Rica is not necessarily a snorkeler's paradise. Probably will spend more time exploring the jungles and mangroves.

You'll love it here in NorCal bro. California is an amazing state. So much to do, so much variety. You've got the ocean, the Redwoods, Tahoe, the wine country, San Francisco... and that's just NorCal.

Ahh I must be thinking of a different snorkeling spot. Thought it was Costa Rica.

Cano Island off the North coast of the Osa peninsula is supposed to have world class scuba diving and ok snorkeling, but we are going to the south side of the Osa and there isn't very good snorkeling on this side to my knowledge.

Heading to Indian Rocks Beach, FL for a week in July. Renting a condo on the beach. Usually we go to either a MD or NJ beach. Never liked them but they are only 3-4 hours away. Thought we would try something different this year. Much nicer beach but I'm sure it will be much hotter too!

Not this year... local NE Fla beaches and Georgia beaches. I lots to do with new house and property. We will plan our trip to Hendersonville NC For the annual Apple fest.Probably spend 4 or 5 days in a cabin up in the smokey Mtns. Thats normally end of August and is a great place to relax.
