They would put them in every back yard if there wasn't so much legal red tape. Everyone bitches about coverage but doesn't want to see towers. Like out here on Longboat Key; all the ultra wealthy retirees. They bitch incessantly about the dead zones but voted against towers, lol.

Damn NIMBYs. New phone towers are unobtrusive compared to those from years ago but the idiots still don't want them in their neighborhoods.

I remember a time when 768kbps dsl was considered blazing fast. 56kbps dial up internet was the standard. That was only 16-17 years ago. I imagine 1 terabyte per second internet is 10-15 years down the line. Netflix will be streaming 12k res at 120fps

There has to be a better tech then towers. Something like the WiFi hotspots is the future. Towers is kinda like above ground telephone polls of the past.

I remember less than 15 years ago companies were paying over $3k per month for T1 service (1.54 Mbps)!

Any wireless signals optimal performance is achieved with higher elevation.

I understand that but I do not believe that towers will be needed in the future. Something like wifi router placed at the top of a building will be sufficient in the future IMO. Using different frequencies and bands in different configurations etc..

haha, and now my current internet 25mbps for $25 a month is considered the very low end of high speed.

when you get it, test it at SpeedOf.Me, HTML5 Speed Test | Non Flash/Java Broadband Speed Test

site uses html 5 and is far more accurate then speedtest.net

Cable companies and networks fighting the inevitable. Internet TV is taking over and it will not be stopped. In 10 years time the only people with traditional cable or Sat will be your parents and grand parents. In the same way that the only people with a home phone are usually the older peeps who can't let go of the old ways.

Thanks B. My TV arrives Tuesday and I am missing out.

Saw the post about the Eagles game too late, I caught the last 3 minutes.
