After taxes I pay $210 a month for TV, internet, and land line (don't use it but it's cheaper to have it added).
See thats the problem with the cable/sat monopoly where people only have 1 or 2 choices in their market. $210 fucken dollers and you sound just peachy about it. watch how cheap it becomes over the next few years, your gonna be amazed. as more and more internet tv services become available where you can pay for the channels you want. it will force the old providers to change or die.

I pay $25 a month and I can watch anything you can watch. It's not as simple as a cable guide and a dvr but with a little knowhow it can all be watched. and i'm not forced to have a fucken bundled landline phone.

    • Agreed it's all over priced but in Chad's case his price is based on his high speed internet not his cable tv package.

Chad what the hell do you do that requires you to have a 180 Mbps package? Most businesses don't even require that kind of bandwidth.

Frankly I'm shocked that Comcast is capable of providing such speeds, lol.

      • Not saying I wouldn't want it cheaper but for the convenience of it I'd rather pay the extra money and stay with Comcast. If I was single and living by myself then I would be looking for the cheapest option. But now my 5 year old can pick up the remote, press a button, and say what show she wants to watch and it comes on. We have 2 DVR's that hold a ton of shows. Again, it's the convenience. There are certain things I'm willing to spend extra money on and that is one.

What speeds to you get for $25?

Funny enough the package I have says up to 75 mbps. I really wouldn't need speeds that high but it is nice if I have any large downloads. I had to download a 1 gb file over the weekend and it took just over a minute.

          • 25mbps is my speed. But here's the thing, 25mbps is more then enough to stream 1080p with ease. Its more then enough to load a webpage in a split second. So while your speed is technically much faster the end result is that in everyday use you wouldn't see any difference. That's not just typical bouncer speak either, that's real world use bro. If you have the option to pay less and lower your speed with Comcast I would do it brother. You simply never use that kind of speed, guaranteed.

I don't pay anymore for those speeds it comes with the package I have. Like I said above, I don't need it but it is nice when I do. I have 300 mbps at work and 180 mbps at home. I'm spoiled when I have to do any large downloads.

              • Those "large downloads" would most likely not be any faster on your connection vs mine. Here is the reason. Most servers have throttled speed and bottle necks. Let's use a torrent for example. I have 25mbps internet but the absolute fastest I can ever download a torrent is about 2 mbps. This is because the torrent servers won't allow for more. This saves the network and servers from overload and data traffic jams.

So lets say me and you start downloading a 10 gig torrent movie from the same source. We will both have the same download speed of that torrent even though your internet is 5 times faster then mine.

To put it simply, the bottle neck of anywhere your trying to download or stream from is the limiting factor. Its not home internet speed unless your home internet speed is so slow that its less then the bottle neck as is the case with slow home internet like 1mbps dsl or old school dial up etc..

If however we are talking about private buisness servers and other unthrottled servers and they allow for unlimited upload/download then yes you would have the file downloaded way faster then me.

                • I get it but the times I need to download large files I have been able to do so incredibly fast.

Just admit that your upset because my cock is bigger than yours! :)

can you give an example? are we talking about private business servers with unthrottled speeds or are you talking about open internet files like a torrent?

Yep, business servers. Can't tell you the last time I downloaded a torrent.

                      • by the way chadd. you could probably get a better deal by just calling them up and saying you'd like to keep the same service and package but you just cant deal with the price anymore and your thinking about leaving. now more then ever cable and sat companies are in full on customer retention mode due to all the people dropping their service. wouldn't surprise me if you could get $50 knocked off your bill even if its only for a year.

well in that case yea your home Internet speed would have a huge advantage over mine.

                          • Well, the FIOS installers were a no-show on Saturday. Idiots make me waste my whole afternoon sitting around waiting for them to come. I'll call their office today to see what happeneed, but my wife works from home part time and 24x7 Internet connectivity is absolutely crucial for us, so FIOS is off to a very bad start as far as I am concerned if this is a sign of things to come lol..
