  • Boxer was trying to sleep and baby Cali was biting him and wouldn't stop. He took it for 10 minutes and growled to warn her. Finally he got up and gave her a classic boxer left hook right in the eye and knocked her across the room. Lmao.

Let me zoom in on that last pic for you.... Look close at the 1 eye. :D :D

Sometimes they gotta learn the hard way. Yet as I type this she's jumping on him. Fucken aye..

      • It's the pain tolerance thing I think. She's stubborn cause she's not effected. She chases a tennis ball and hits the wall head first at full speed and won't react in the slightest. I just don't think they have that warning system that says "this hurts I better stop".

        • Update: she's all healed and after a bowl of food and a scoop of peanut butter she is ripping around the house full throttle. lol

True love. I'm glad the two of you found each other.

They really don't. I have never seen one of my pit bulls hurt. They are truly tough as nails.

              • FB, did you have more than 1?

Few questions. Were your PB's cuddlers? It feels like if she's not playing or chewing she wants to cuddle. Never saw a dog that so enjoys tucking itself into my arm pit. lol. all my dogs have been cuddlers but she seems to really need it a lot more.

Health issues? Did they ever have any? Just wanna know if I should watch for anything.

Are they still alive? If not how long did they live? When looking at a boxer you have a pretty straight forward answer. They live about 10-12 years. With Pits its all over the place. I've seen 8-16. Just want to get some average.

                • I had more than one, but not at the same time. My first one died a very unfortunate death. He was the sweetest thing to my family members and my shepherd, but did not care for anyone else. He was definitely affectionate.

My second pit we got when my son was a baby. He was such a sweetheart and such a fantastic dog. He didn't care for other dogs, but he was excellent when I brought home a cat, etc. They ended up being buddies. He passed away earlier this year. He was almost 11. He never had any health issues prior to his death, which was believed to be cancer and he was suffering.

I think part of her cuddling is because she is still a puppy. My pits were like that as puppies. They stayed sweet though, and would lay with us or put their heads on our lap, etc.

                  • Gonna have to really start working with her on pulling and her behavior towards other dogs. She displays zero aggression towards them but her intensity and level of energy she puts into going and saying hi to another dog is just crazy. It's nothing new as she's done it since she was 3 months old but she's 3 times as strong as she was then and even I have a hard time with her when she really wants to see something. When we are passing another dog I have to grab her collar, sit her down and kind of get down on one knee and hold her close to my body. Her ability to twist, jump, pull, and flip all at the same time is impressive and a bit scary knowing she is only going to get bigger and stronger. Something else she does is get real low and walk towards other animals like a lion in high grass stalking its kill. She does it to squirrels, birds, and dogs. Love her to death but she's a bit more of a handful than the other breeds I've raised from pups. I'll get her straight though. Sorry for the rant.

                    • Great website I've found for facts and tips from training to basic tips. I like it because they are fans of the breed but they are not apologists. The basic message being to raise the dog with love and exercise but always be prepared just in case. IMO a must read website for anyone thinking about owning the breed.

                          • What is it with dogs and shit? Funny story...about 8 years ago, me and my bros went camping in the Allegheny forest (PA backwoods type shit). My one buddy brought his rott/shepherd mix with him...my other buddy Graham went and took a nasty shit in the woods. Half an hour later the dog comes back all excited, smelling fucking horrible. Here, he went and found my buddies shit, rolled in it, got covered in it, and was happy as fuck

They both then (dog owner and shitter) had to take the dog and bathe it in the fuckin river.lmao. What makes a dog think shit smells so good they fuckin roll in it?!

                              • Got into a fight with my mom because she swears cali is an American Bulldog because she says a pitbull is much smaller at 6 months than cali is. She said she saw a black and white american bull dog and it looks just like her. I told her to go fuck herself. lol

She swears that if she's 60ish pounds at 6 months than shes gonna be 100lbs full grown and look like this.

Thing is though, 6 month old American Bulldogs look long and skinny like young boxers, they haven't put on much muscle yet. Cali is short and stocky, her legs aren't long like that at all.
