On the gun thing, are they even allowed on campus? Isn't it against the law?

And also I'd say don't let a fella buy you a drink. Buy it yourself and keep that shit in your hand in your lap so nobody has a chance to put something in.

Why is it the victims responsibility to "think and act more clearly"? Are you kidding me?! And I completely disagree with "plenty of girls claim to have been assaulted" when there are a mere SIX PERCENT are reporting their assault.

I get your point rip. I'm just saying imagine how bad it would suck if your daughter blew a guys head off and ended up in prison for 25 years because it was her word against his and he's dead. She'd be a victim regardless. A victim of justice and prison.

I'm fairly certain they are not allowed.

I think we are missing a key point in using a gun for a sexual assault situation. If you are feeling threatened and are going to pull out a gun, most likely sexual assault hasn't come into the picture yet. Just assault.

And as some pointed out, if you end up in a bad situation with risk of sexual assault, most likely you know the person to the extent that shooting them will feel way over board or you are to incoherent to be able to operate a gun.

I think it's always a smart idea to think and act clearly. Victim or not.

Nobody is excusing a rapist. As a matter of fact I think anyone that would rape someone else needs a bullet in their head.

BUT. There are things a woman can do to prevent things like that. It may not be fair but it's probably not a good idea for a girl in collage to get drunk off her ass and or lose control.

Yes I get it, guys can do it. But guys aren't getting raped by women. Its not fair, its not right but it would prevent a great deal of this sort of thing.

Thats the responsibility of being a lawful gun onwer..you only use it when you need it. its a last resort not a first.. thats the diffrence...

Yes your right. But it would only be her word against his. Add to the fact that it looks like its against the law to have a gun on campus in the first place.

My only point is that while a gun could save her life, it could also mean she spends that life behind bars.

Rip, we are not talking about someone breaking into your house and assaulting you. Then, any use of deadly force woudl be viewed much more leniently by the justice system. But we are talking about CAMPUS assault here. These aren't hardened criminals. These are kids who for whatever reason don't seem to realize when boundaries are crossed. Not excusing their behavior and they certainly need to face punishment if that happens, but shooting someone in that situation is definitely going to have repurcussions.

and you only use it when your feel your life is at risk... You carry your pepper spray..we will carry our lead... again..I refuse to be a victim..for anyone...its well work the risk.. as you call it IMO.

Yes, those are super obvious rules you should follow. Never lose control over yourself. However, being drunk or high or whatever else is never an excuse to be assaulted. That's missing the point of what was originally said. Victims are not reporting their assaults due to shame, guilt, thinking it's their fault, people saying it's their fault, etc. So I find it extremely concerning that we're talking about how tragic these statistics are and someone jumps in with "well if girls didn't get drunk".....

On the subject of why girls aren't reporting. I agree with you completely.

We were just discussing something else that ties in with the subject I guess. The prevention of it in the first place.

That I can most certainly agree with. I wish young girls would think about these things and not be so damn naive. It just sucks that we have to call them naive because some jackass out there is ready to take advantage of someone.
