  • The Return of Supersonic Travel

Supersonics are back. Around the world, aerospace companies and organisations, including Nasa, are developing the technology that will allow passengers once again to fly at faster than the speed of sound. The first of this new breed of aircraft could be flying early in the 2020s.

It was way back in 2003 that Concorde was retired. The airliner entered service in 1976 but was hobbled by complaints that it was too loud. As a result, it could only break the sound barrier when flying over the ocean. This restricted its operation and turned it into a niche aircraft operated only by British Airways and Air France on transatlantic flights.

    The Return of Supersonic Travel

That would be awesome. Wife and Noah are in Korea right now and flying to Japan in a few hours and the none stop flight from LA to Seoul took 13.5 hours. Imagine cutting that time in a half.

And lol at Concorde 2. Everything is super sleek and pointy and than there is the Concorde.

Yea I find it kinda sad that a trip from West Coast to East coast still takes 6 hours like it did in 1965. One would think the tech could have been improved by now 50 years later...

Start the supersonic flights, bring this kind of service back and we are all good.

Miss the days of the food and snacks during flights. :(

I don't see a huge benefit, if it's hugely expensive and if the airliner is otherwise comfortable of sooner take a few more hours.

Gimicky and cool but unless it's value for money it wouldn't interest me. That being said it is disappointing that regular planes aren't generally quicker than they were

Yea even if its just an increase of 200mph. You'd think planes of today would be faster. 600mph has been the cruising speed for fucken ages. You'd think we could increase speed without fuel cost increase due to advances in engine tech and aero.
