Pizza dough is simple, just those things you twist already pre made like biscuits. Filling is thin cut sirloin browned in pan with onions and peppers. Then about half a pound of mozzarella and pepper jack cheese. Place cooked ingredients inside raw dough and fold. Paint 1 raw beaten egg over the folded dough (to brown perfectly) and put in oven @ 400 for 15 minutes. Dip in au jus or marinara sauce.

Why are you not posting these in your food thread? Just make more threads of foods? Looks good for sure.

That thread ran its course homey. The idea was to post clean foods not having to be boring. It was never supposed to be a junk food thread. Now I got a protein on a budget thread which is a different subject.

Made a stromboli with sauteed red peppers, onions, mushrooms and broccoli, along with nonfat mozzarella cheese. Came out damn good. I used the store bought pizza dough, but will make my own dough next time.

Bouncer, did you just fold yours over? I tried to roll it but it was hard to not tear the dough. It fell apart a bit, which is the only negative to the dish I made.

Yea folded it over, not rolled. Stromboli isn't a pizza roll! The dough came out absolutely perfect on mine. Maybe different brand?

I saw several online recipes and videos and they all had them rolling them. These were Italian cooks. But of course, you know the best.

I've always seen and done it the way I did mine in the picture. Spread out dough, place filling in middle and fold from all sides like a blanket.

Seems that there are 2 types of preparations. I didn't even know about the roll type.

                        From Wikipedia.

In South Jersey we would have called what you made a pizza roll.

That makes sense. I was about to comment that what you made sounded like what I always thought of as a calzone. I'll try it your way next time.would be easier, I think.

Calzone yea, I've heard that term but not until after I moved out of Jersey. I think this is one of those food name type deals. In South jersey we called subs Hoagies. We have a breakfast meat called scrapple etc.. (anyone from philly area knows what this is).

But yea, looking at the definition of a calzone, that's what I made.
