Pizza dough is simple, just those things you twist already pre made like biscuits. Filling is thin cut sirloin browned in pan with onions and peppers. Then about half a pound of mozzarella and pepper jack cheese. Place cooked ingredients inside raw dough and fold. Paint 1 raw beaten egg over the folded dough (to brown perfectly) and put in oven @ 400 for 15 minutes. Dip in au jus or marinara sauce.
That thread ran its course homey. The idea was to post clean foods not having to be boring. It was never supposed to be a junk food thread. Now I got a protein on a budget thread which is a different subject.
Made a stromboli with sauteed red peppers, onions, mushrooms and broccoli, along with nonfat mozzarella cheese. Came out damn good. I used the store bought pizza dough, but will make my own dough next time.
Bouncer, did you just fold yours over? I tried to roll it but it was hard to not tear the dough. It fell apart a bit, which is the only negative to the dish I made.
That makes sense. I was about to comment that what you made sounded like what I always thought of as a calzone. I'll try it your way next time.would be easier, I think.

Calzone yea, I've heard that term but not until after I moved out of Jersey. I think this is one of those food name type deals. In South jersey we called subs Hoagies. We have a breakfast meat called scrapple etc.. (anyone from philly area knows what this is).
But yea, looking at the definition of a calzone, that's what I made.
