And when the young Saudi guy sees the US in bed with the sheiks, he isn't exactly filled with love for the west.

The politicians keep feeding this BS line that " they hate us because they hate freedom and our way of life." Utter and complete nonsense. The average middle eastern loves freedom as much as we do. But they see the US as the oppressor, siding with their despotic politicians, unilaterally supporting Israel who are crushing the Palestinians. They don't hate our freedom. They hate the fact that we represent the exact opposite of freedom in the middle East.

We need to realize this. Any sensible person will recognize this. But US foreign policy is built on anything but common sense.
I completely agree with all of that.

You say you are an atheist but I've only heard you blast Christianity and defend Isalm. I would be saying the same thing if they performed these atrocities as a Christian nation. Muslim is bad yes, as well as Christian and Hindu and all of them but we are talking about Iran. Hell based on what they do to women alone I am dumbfounded you would defend them.
I agree, and the biggest fuck up is we keep befriending the wrong crowd who them shit on us. It was only 5 years ago the US political rhetoric was still about how dangerous I rand nuclear weapons programme waa and about how they were the axis of evil lol

I don't defend any religion. If fundamental Christianity is against gays, then I will criticize them. If Islam is against women's rights, then I've got a problem with that. I have said on this forum that the caste system or stuff like that in has no place in modern society. Show me where I have defended some stupid religious belief!

You keep falling back into the same trap. DO NOT treat all these countries the same because they are all Muslim countries. That's like saying that both the US and Zimbabwe are Christian countries so they are the same. There are certainly a lot of issues with Islam but if you paint Turkey and Indonesia with the same brush as Saudi Arabia just because they are all Muslim countries, then we are going to have highly flawed policies in terms of dealing with these countries.

ISIS is certainly a problem. But just pounding them from the air will have limited utility and will drive the population into their arms. Our best option is to recognize that the people best suited to fight ISIS are the Syrians and the Iranians because Sunni ISIS is intruding on are region that traditionally has had Syrian and Iranian hegemony. Now, the Sunni countries like Jordan, Saudi Arabia etc. have no love for ISIS, so if they can help, great. But the worst thing we can do is to put boots on the ground, turn the area into a glass factory, bomb it into the stone age, or whatever stupid slogan the pols like to spout, to a cheering and ignorant audience.

But of course, this requires some level of wisdom. It requires us to acknowledge that even though we don't see eye to eye with the Syrians or the Iranians, it is their area and the best way to stabilize it is with their cooperation, not without.
Defending Islam by the sounds of it right here by supporting a state whose laws are based upon a religion where other religions are persecuted, and nothing you've said against Christianity wasn't warrented. The US isn't a Christian nation. It may have had a Christian influence but is in no way a state sponsored religion.

If Iran and Syria wants to take on ISIS they can be my guest but to support them in any manner financially or militarily should not be supported. They have made Zero effort to change their ways and until they make that move I can not support them. When Iran stops stoning women and apologizes for efforts to kill people of the US and makes efforts to advancement of religious freedom, only then will I get behind them.

So we should disengage completely from the Middle East militarily is what you are saying. Including the Saudis. No sweetheart military deals for them. I'll be down for that. That will allow us to cut our military budget in half or less. And invest in infrastructure in the US and more jobs stateside.

You sound like a Democrat, Chuck! ;)

I've always said that region needs strong dictators to hold down the tribal nature.

When we stir the hornets nest and dispose leaders it makes things ten times worse, and we put our people in danger plus we finish up with thousands of pretend refugees who then want to turn our developed and civilised countries into the same shit hole they just left.

                  Another picture ..

Russia is in the region now...pulling Turkey/Nato into this conflict...Iran backs Syria...Russia backs Syria..why? OIL... Russia wants Saudi and Iran to fight..This gives them a reason to destroy all the infrastructure for the oil industry in that region. Just look how they are bombing..they don't give a fuck..they fight a real fight..KILL the fuckers at any cost WIN PERIOD..it'll take years to rebuild...Russia pumps more oil for its region and the world...as well as possibly taking over oil fields in the region...the Russian empire gains the riches of the region...

Sunni..Shia..who gives a fuck..they have and always will fight...it will never end.. neither are right. They all treat their women like shit. And from my times in the sand..most people over there do appreciate America and americans overall...its the people who rule the countries that don't want the populace to have their freedoms..as they will loose control. they just hide behind their religion its all bullshit.

This administration has created this whole ISIS issue...they let Russia in the region...the next one will have to clean up this fucking mess..or just pull away farther..which will allow the ISIS movement and refugee issue to grow more..time will tell... Its a fucking mess...and its not gonna be pretty..

The US and Europe just can't bare the thought of Russia going in and cleaning up the place. With Assad in charge backed by Iran and Russia there would be significantly more peace and the whole country could rebuild and thrive.

Of course Russia and Iran would do well too going forwards but why shouldn't they?

We sat back and did nothing, Russia stood up to the plate and went in. Then we whinged and started trying to make them out to be the devil. When I hear the ccorrupted murdoch news report that Russians are being indiscriminate with their bombs I cringe. It's only because of Julian Assange and wikileaks we found out how indiscriminate out own bombs were in Iraq and the torture we were carrying out in guantanamo
