Yeh you never know when you need to stab something right?

What I'm sensing here is a lot if talk but nobody strictly knows how to deal.

I would take my top off and wrap it round my forearm. Then I would straddle the dig from behind. Grab a color if it had one. Throw it into its side and kneel down into the side of its jaw

Thays exactly what I would do

I've read that the best thing to do to avoid injury to all parties is to have 2 people and at the same time you pick up the dog by both back feet, lift up to chest level and walk backwards. this supposedly makes the dog feel awkward and release.

obviously thats the theory, could go very differently in the real world.

you would also need 2 people to cooperate in a calm manner. people tend to get stupid in a situation like that.

i carry pepper spray when i take my dogs for a walk. both for the defense of my dog and the defense of other dogs. if my dog ever latched on to another dog I'd spray both dogs in the eyes and nose. she'd be pain for an hour but she'd be left unhurt after that. better then letting her kill another dog and have her taken from me by the police. pepper spray is good because it makes the dog feel like it can't breath and scares them. it's not the actual pain. pain can actually make a dog fight worse, they feel the pain and think the other dog is doing it so they bite harder.

Yea lot of dipshits that let their dog run off leash. If one comes running up and Cali decides to clamp onto its nose the fastest way I can think to prevent to other dog from injury is pepper spray. Nobody gets hurt in the long run.

That dog didn't want to let go. After multiple attempts you're better off letting the dogs do what they want.

Call animal control (if there is one) and pray they they get there in a timely manner to hit them both with tranquilizers.

Laugh at bouncer all you want, but he's right. 100+ pound dog had some serious pull and momentum once it gets going. Pepper spray would work.

pepper spray works on dogs. there are 50 million mail men and women around the world that will tell you this. if you have some crappy pepper spray it may be ineffective but police grade pepper spray will have an impact. the key is to get it in the nose and mouth more so than the eyes.

if it doesn't stop the fight completely a combo of pepper spray and the back leg lift and pull is what I'd try next.

I carry pepper spray when I walk my dog. He has been attacked twice by a dog off leash. Pepper spray is great.
