So life in prison is more civilized than lethal injection for example?

Seems to me that it's more efficient and cost effective to eliminate a proven beyond a shadow of doubt guilty party then to keep them alive until they die of old age.

If by civilized we define keeping someone behind bars for a lifetime rather then ending their misery quickly and efficiently than I would say no.

That would be my definition of a barbaric and inefficient, wasteful society.

Ideal goal would be rehabilitation. If that is not possible, then separation from society. The death penalty is still murder, just state sanctioned. I don't support it. It's revenge.

No, that's where we disagree.

I didn't say casually rehabilitate someone. If it is premeditated murder, then i would be all for separating him from society for the rest of his life.

But I don't believe in putting someone to death as revenge. As disconsolate as I would be, I don't believe that more killing is going to somehow help give me peace. I would absolutely speak out against the death penalty even in the situation you describe.
