I think you guys are ridiculous sometimes. I pay $39 for 6lbs of whey when it's on sale at Costco. I look like a Spartan and I'm healthy as an ox. Disregard my recent black out that was just pushing myself to hard. Lol
Scrum I guarantee you don't know the exact details of every piece of tofu or veggie hot dog, or brussel sprout pizza that you put in your mouth. Go with a reputable brand with a good rep and you'll be fine.
Grass fed organic whey raised in the waters of lake minytonka sprinkled with angel dust for fuck sake. Get a grip and just pick a brand god damn.
Can't eat this anymore, can't eat that anymore, oatmeal causes inflammation, fruit gives you a heart attack, protein kills your kidneys over 15 grams per day... Fuck sake what the hell is going on!? Are we men or are we organic, grass fed fruit cakes?

I think this is probably a good way to look at it in general, most of this stuff isn't going to kill you at least not right away, but do you remember Muscle Milk? It was a reputable brand at the time and tons of us were using it back in the day and it turned out to contain above average levels of Methylene Chloride. All the lab tests showed it had proper levels of good Whey protein, but what pepole weren't testing for was the other byproducts and impurities.
What is methlyene chloride?
According to the EPA, it is predominately used as a solvent in paint strippers, removers and pharamcuetical drugs, and as propellent for insect sprays and aerosol paint sprays. Exposure from the inhalation of methylene chloride have been linked to headaches, nausea, memory loss, liver and kidney issues, visual and auditory dysfunction, cardiovascular problems and an increased rate of cancer.
According to this FDA 2003 document, “methylene chloride, a carcinogenic chemical, is a potential impurity in ACK resulting from its use as a solvent in the initial manufacturing step of the sweetener. In the past, FDA has assumed that methylene chloride is present in Acesulfame K at the LOD of 40 ppb (worst-case scenario) and has evaluated its safety by performing a risk assessment for methylene chloride based on this level. No new information has been received to change FDA’s previous risk assessment for methylene chloride.” You know how much of this should be considered safe for human consumption? Zero parts per billion.
But are you like that with every single thing you eat or drink? If you go out to dinner do you pull out a test kit to make sure the tuna steak your eating isn't contaminated? Do you test the water you drink to make sure its within guidelines? See what I'm getting at? After awhile it's like where do we draw the line of tedium? I'm a "steak an potatoes" type guy.
I care what I put in my body and I'd certainly avoid something if it's a known toxin but at some point you have to draw a line.

Yeah I get that. It's a good point.
But, when I go out to eat, that's a rare occasion, like a treat or a cheat meal. I usually do a cheat day every 10 days. When I eat sugar or fruit, that's a treat that's a cheat meal, when I eat sushi I KNOW it's got mercury in it and that's a rare thing but I do love eating Sushi, however when I take protein powder that's pretty much a staple which is a daily thing. Another example is Alcohol, I know it's horrible for me and will have long term effects if I drank regulary, but I do so but once again, having a whiskey is a rare thing, a cheat meal type thing.
So, to answer your question I only scrutinize things that I consider to be staples and things I ingest regularly/daily. The rest of it I know there is some risk and I'll accept that risk, but I don't want to put impurities in my body on a daily basis if I can help it.
Bouncer, I don't know much about that one, but I personally wouldn't use it because I'm not sold on Sucralose, but wasn't Cytosport also the maker of Muscle Milk?
