    My problem. That people actually believe something is going to change. Nothing will change. 1000 politicians will not fix a problem created by BILLIONS of people. These politicians fly around the world to enjoy fancy dinners and "talk" about the issues. I remember solar energy and electric cars being the big topic when I was a kid, about 28 years ago. For every nation that halts wealth generation for earth preservation, a second nation decides to pursue wealth.
    Electric cars are still a big topic. Maybe not where you live, but out here in SF I see dozens of Tesla's daily and once Elon Musk comes out with more affordable model 3 it's going to take over. And now Elon Musk also has solar powered shingles. All of this will help greatly. We need the politicians to force these regulations. Put the regulations in place. Don't bring back coal jobs, etc there are plenty of things politicians can do.

    In Europe it's already happening. Solar energy, wind farms, almost all cars have very strict emission regulations. Norway is banning all gasoline powered cars, etc.. Things are happening and we can make a change. It's a poor attitude to just say nothing can be done and nothing will be done and just sit on this ticking time bomb and do nothing.

      "President Obama’s flight to the City of Lights emitted roughly 189 tons of carbon alone, burning 19,275 gallons of jet fuel, reports the Daily Caller.

      His entire trip will send more carbon dioxide into the air than the combined emissions from 31 U.S. homes over the span of a year."

      Odd that a meeting has to take place in person in the technology age. They don't give two shits.

          Yep, and it's already doing it from the oceans. This is why scientists think they are if anything, underestimating the impact of global warming.

            So, you really don't think Obama cares at all about the planet? You want the president of the United States to not fly in a plane to prove he cares about the environment? I think meeting with the other world leaders to take it on a much bigger scale than worrying about one overseas airline flight.

            Combined 31 homes? That doesn't sound like much considering that according to the 2015 there are 124.6 million households in the US and you're using 31 to prove a point? 31? Come on bro.

                Didn't think you'd have much of a response to that. Did a bit of research and found out you got that talking point from Fox News of all places. Come on man!

                Fox News' Glaring Hypocrisy On The UN Climate Summit's Carbon Footprint

                http://mediamatters.org/research/201...mate-su/207241

                France Plans To Fully Offset The Summit's Carbon Footprint. WIRED recently estimated that the Paris climate talks will result in 300,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions. But the UN has spelled out how the French government is working to both reduce emissions from the source and "offset all emissions from travel of registered participants, as well as those from the conference facilities and local operations":

                Various actions have been taken to reduce COP 21's emissions from the source. These include:

                hybrid shuttles between the RER station at Le Bourget or line 7 (Fort Aubervilliers) and the conference site;

                distribution of 20 000 Navigo passes to registered participants;

                a gas fired boiler instead of an heating oil boiler (-20% in terms of CO2);

                short distribution channels and local sourcing for catering;

                zero waste and 100% reuse;

                welcome bags made with recycled clothing;

                recycled paper and vegetable-based inks

                Greenhouse gas emissions produced on the conference site that cannot be reduced from the source will be evaluated.

                [...]

                The French government will offset all emissions from travel of registered participants, as well as those from the conference facilities and local operations, through CERs from projects under the clean development mechanism (CDM). The carbon neutrality of the COP should be completed by March 2016.

                It should also be noted that the UNFCCC secretariat will offset all emissions from staff travel. Some delegations also have a policy to offset their climate footprint. For everybody else, it is voluntary.

                As a result, the French government intends to increase efforts to actively encourage all participants not covered by offsets by the government or UNFCCC secretariat to offset their own emissions.

                The UN further noted that all emissions were offset by the host governments at previous UN climate conferences in Lima, Copenhagen, and Bali, and most emissions were offset by the host governments at the UN climate conferences in Doha and Durban.

                    Regardless of where you got it from, moochie does have a point in terms of your response of smiley faces. What point were your trying to make exactly? Because the President flies to a face to face meeting he doesn't care about climate?

                    Hell why go anywhere as President? Why not do everything from an office with a computer, mic, and camera. To do otherwise means he doesn't give a shit?

                    Gotta admit brother, you were reaching with that one..

                      It was every leader in attendance, not just Obama. I'm sorry you don't see the irony in flying a bunch of dignitaries around, burning fossil fuels, to meet and hang out and discuss reducing carbon emissions. It isn't a trait that I find admirable in a leader. Don't tell me to do something and then do the opposite.

                      Did someone mention Norway in this thread? Wow. China, US, and Russia, really the three main countries that need to be meeting about climate change. If the big three do t change, nothing will change.

                      Same conversation will be going on in 15 years.

                        Bro if they had met via the Internet you wouldn't have given them praise. You'd have said nothing. You are the definition of a pessimist.

                          So you didn't read the article I posted a few posts up? Let me copy the sentence and underline it for you. They knew flying world leaders around would emit some carbon, so they had a plan to offset it.
