Bro the straight line speed record as beast posted in his screen shot was broken just last year. Modern lower HP cars are faster in the corners and the straights because they are more efficient at using the power they have. Combine that with lighter more modern materials and better aerodynamics and all the old speed records are falling.

So I'm not trying to make a thing out of anything bro. You just gotta realize when your wrong your wrong. It's nothing personal.

You sounded legit in your initial posts but ten you go on and make personal comments, it's weird.

What we do know is that the were a lot more powerful back in the 80s that's a fact. Like 400hp or so more powerful.

As you said above before you went back on yourself I'd guess top speed they were generally faster.

The gearing of the cars gets changed for each race anyway.

You keep talking about tracks. Bro safety measures were put in place at certain tracks to actually slow the cars down. So if anything your making the point for me. Tracks back then we're actually faster in and of themselves. So the fact that lap records are being broken at these tracks shows just how much faster today's cars are.

Your not wrong when you say "they had more power". But that power does not translate to faster lap times and as we all know, F1 is about lap times.

The track beast refered to was different in the 80s so one can't compare.

As for the cars technology over time I can well imagine that handling, gear efficiency on acceleration I.e changing through the gears and also perhaps a tad improved aerodynamics all help to improve the car.

BUT - if you have a car at full speed in top gear on a straight, similar aerodynamics, similar weight, the car with 400hp more will be faster.

You can't see that so we simply have different views

Yes but you can't change the rules to fit your argument. Your saying similar aero and similar weight. The older cars with more HP did not have similar aero or weight. In other words the comparison is irrelevant.

All things being similar of course 400hp is faster. But all things aren't similar you dildo.

Highly doubt that. It's like saying roads would be safer if everyone drove a smart car because they are narrower. If everyone drove suburbans we would have more crashes because they are wider.

Even an average dumbass driver would be able to adjust their driving techniques and they way they gauge the distances depending on the car's width or the length. So a professional F1 will have zero problem adjusting his depth of field according to the car's width.
