Nah you don't seem to understand bro.

Voyager 1 left earth in 1977. It's the fastest traveling man made object ever at almost 40,000 mph. It's only traveled about 18 light MINUTES from earth since it left.

These new planets are 40 light YEARS from earth.

In other words, they are unreachable with modern day tech. The only thing we can do is observe them from a distance with our telescopes.

To put it in perspective. It will take Voyager 1 about 20,000 years to travel 1 light year. So if you do the math 40 light years would take 800,000 years traveling at almost 40,000mph...

We need a major breakthrough in our traveling speed technology to even begin to think about traveling there.

Correct I don't understand the latest technology that's why I asked the question.

Well, that a long time away then ha

Yea it's just a matter of speed and distance brother. We need huge advances.

And here's another thing that is fucken mind blowing. If you travel near the speed of light for let's say a year and come back to earth, the people on earth will have aged something like 50 years while you are only a year older. Something to do with speed being directly related to time. Crazy science fiction type shit.

          One more mind blower.

Let's imagine we got to that planet somehow. Once we land and radio back home that we have arrived, it would take 40 more years for earth to even receive that message because radio singles travel at the speed of light. That's how impossible the whole thing would be. It's just so far beyond what we are even remotely capable of doing currently.

The crazy thing... 40 light years is nothing in the vastness of space. There are stars that are thousands upon thousands of light years away. 40 light years is actually very close in cosmic context.

What I have always wondered is what kind of life forms would be out there. Scientists always compare it to earth and life sustainment systems as we know it. But I would seem to think life forms would be nothing like we know ours to be.. It could really be some crazy cool stuff..

Exactly, the possibilities are endless. Life forms that breath sulfur gas instead of oxygen. Creatures that drink sulfuric acid instead of water.

Insects the size of dinosaurs etc..

Sounds like some Star trek shit but reality could make science fiction look boring when it comes to the universe and all its possibilities.
