  • Comparing the Las Vegas Attack With Daily Gun Deaths in U.S. Cities

On Sunday night in Las Vegas, 58 people were killed in a single mass shooting, one of the deadliest in American history. How does that compare with the daily gun deaths in cities across the United States?

In Chicago, 58 people were killed by guns in a span of 28 days, counting back from Sept. 29, two days before the Las Vegas attack. Many shootings were of one person, not mass attacks. In Baltimore, there were 58 gun deaths in 68 days. In Houston, it was 118 days.

Yes...But they won't do shit about the inner city killings...Just use the big ones for their own political agenda...

The inner city guns are usually not legal owners I assume?

Why can't they put some kind of identification marker on the gun that can't just be scratched off? Like somewhere you would need to literally break the gun to expose the marker.

That way whenever the weapon is found by authorities they trace it back to the original purchaser of the weapon and that person goes to jail for whatever crime was committed with the weapon unless the purchaser had reported the weapon stolen.

I would think that would prevent people with a clean record from buying guns, scratching off the barcode/pin and then selling the gun for a profit to people who probably couldn't buy a gun themselves because of their criminal record.

Knowing that if they sell a gun to these people they will go to jail for whatever crime is committed with the gun they sell would be a huge deterrent I would imagine.

If your saying someone buys guns and knowingly sells them to felons for profit...There are already laws against it

The only way deaths by guns will ever stop is to destroy every gun and stop making new ones. Other then that we have to just deal with it. And you know that will never happen....

Rip I know there is already a serial number. But they can easily be scratched off. I'm saying a serial number or some kind of technology should connect the owner with the gun that can never be scratched off. That way, the owner of that gun would be less likely to ever sell the gun under the table or to someone who may be questionable. Know what I mean?

So if I have a clean record and I go buy an AR-15 and some shady character tells me he will pay me twice as much as I paid for it some people might be tempted by that because all they have to do is scratch off the serial number. But if there was some identifier inside the gun that could not be scratched off unless you actually break the gun it might limit the possibility of people selling guns to people who may be dangerous or mean to do harm.

Even if the government tried the black market for guns would surge just like during prohibition. More people drank alcohol in America during prohibition compared to the years before when it was legal to drink.

A lot of the inner city guns are stolen. They steal from homes, cars, and gun stores. They even steal out of LE vehicles. I don't think the problem is law abiding people selling guns to questionable people. A lot of cheap guns are also smuggled in from other countries, just like drugs.

Every country would have to agree to disposing of weapons and agree to not make weapons. No chance in hell. Just like drugs.

Since the world is focused on America and our violent society I decided to do a quick search on murder by vehicles.

The following were all in 2017. I'm sure more examples exist, this is from a quick Google search.

                        Spain:
                        13 Killed, 100 Injured

                        Virginia:
                        1 K, 19 I

                        London x2:
                        8 K, 40 I
                        5 K, couldn't find injured

                        Sweden:
                        4 K, 15 I

                        France:
                        84 K, 200 I

So, pretend all the guns disappear in America. Only police officers have guns. I guess the psycho people will his give up trying to cause death and destruction.

First, serial numbers are not that easy to "scratch" off. It takes something like a dremel. Second, for most guns, the serial number is imprinted on a number of parts (sear, hammer, slide, etc) so just taking off the one on the frame doesn't really do you any good. Third, it is a felony with mandatory jail terms to tamper with the serial number. Being in possession of such a firearm is a serious felony offence.

I've heard people talking about requiring new guns made after a certain year (let's just say 2020) that requires the ability of new guns to mark the round with a micro serial number that can only be seen under an electron microscope. Any truth to that? I think it's a requirement for California at some point.

A little food for thought..so the folks who are screaming for gun control to save lives.. lets see..

Planned parent hood...federal funds used for abortions..over 200,000 performed a year. But the same politicians (for the most part) want to ban/ outlaw guns because they kill too many people. ?? really? lets think about the numbers here.. and be honest!
