it's more about changing the future of games as a whole. it used to be you pay $60 and you get hours and hours of fun. Now you pay $60 and they are slowly giving you less and less. After awhile $60 will give you level 1 of the game. Another $5 will buy you a weapon, another $5 will get you this or that etc... they are slowly trying to get to a point where it's pay to play meaning after that $60 purchase you still have to pay for all kinds of upgrades to even be able to play. It's not at that point yet but that is what EA is trying to do. The more people who buy EA games the more the message to the gaming industry will be to follow their lead.

And what exactly is wrong with that business model? I think that's a briliant idea....again it's pennies to the dollars for small entertainment so I really don't see the issue here but then again that's just my opinionOriginally posted by Bouncer View Postit's more about changing the future of games as a whole. it used to be you pay $60 and you get hours and hours of fun. I see.. you like the scam artist type... on a serious note alot of these kids don't make as much money as you and they take this more serious than the average person because it's about passion...
Just as much passion as we have with lifting

looking at it from the perspective from a business, sure it's fine. make as much money as you can.Originally posted by rado View PostAnd what exactly is wrong with that business model? but your not in the video game business. you play games. if you want games to get to a point where $60 hardly gets you into the game and you NEED to buy everything to even play, that's the point where EA is trying to take games. it's not there yet but they are leading the pack with more and more micro-transactions and they are increasingly trying to make it the norm.

Nothing wrong with companies making that bread. Is it greed? I'm sure to some extent it is.
But again, entertainment as of recent times, has become much more of a financial burden on many...why is that? WE WANT it and more of it...so companies got smart and slowly took what was given away for free, to being a cost now.

I'm all about money; sure no doubt.. but less use this as an example...Originally posted by rado View PostIt's entertainment brother.

Let's say you wanted Test!! Like you really wanted to take test for the first time and you find out you get Tren instead, but you wanted Test..
False advertising is it not?
As I said.. not a star wars type fan, but if they tell you buy this DLC and you can unlocked Darth Vader.. oh no wait. You just purchase the game now you got 40 hours of game play until you can unlock Vader or whatever characters they have.. wtf!

rado, answer this question from a perspective of a guy who just plays video games and is not in the video game business. do you want a game that cost $60 to give you full access and have all the fun you want with it. or do you want to be check points every 10 minutes you play where you have to pay more and more and more until eventually that $60 game becomes a $120 game. remember, the majority of gamers are kids when you answer.Originally posted by rado View PostIt's entertainment brother.

Asking the wrong person, I do have a son and he's on my acct for ps4....he plays destiny with me at times and other games he has; that child goes to his parents for the money, which is his mother or myself....ultimately I end paying for it.Originally posted by Bouncer View Postrado, answer this question from a perspective of a guy who just plays video games and is not in the video game business. do you want a game that cost $60 to give you full access and have all the fun you want with it. or do you want to be check points every 10 minutes you play where you have to pay more and more and more until eventually that $60 game becomes a $120 game. remember, the majority of gamers are kids when you answer.
And your example is a bit exaggerated, it is NOT that frequent.

you don't get it. they are pushing for that exaggerated example as I said numerous times. slowly making it the norm. just because you and me can afford games does not mean a kid or a family with little money shouldn't be able to have a little fun with a game also.

i'm only about 7 hours into Assassins Creed. I'll be finished by next Christmas. :D
I got wolfinstein 2 in the other day. Kinda wanna play that but my OCD means I gotta play and finish a game before I move onto another. The only time I wont follow that rule is when a game is shit and I'm not enjoying it, then I will just move on.
