  • California Law Will Allow Illegals To Vote

A California law, which goes into affect on April 1, will automatically register people to vote when they apply for a new driver's license or new state ID

Since the state allows anyone who claims to be in the country legally, even without proof, to obtain a license the law will automatically register illegal aliens

The law, called the California New Motor Voter Act, will send DMV applications to the Secretary of State’s Office for registration

The California New Motor Voter Act is expected to add more than two million new registrants in the first year.

Voter ID laws are always a balance between making it difficult for citizens to vote legally versus making it easy for non-citizens to vote illegally.

There is zero evidence that there is some huge illegal voting problem. This Kobach guy from Kansas make it his life's mission to prove ilegal voting and Trump made it a campaign platform as well, claiming that he would have won the popular vote had illegals not voted. 3+ million illegals voted according to him. Well guess what, Kobach's commission just got shut down because there is no evidence that there is illegal voting by non-citizens. There were a couple of cases of people registered in two states to vote and the funny thing is that they were both GOP voters. There is NO widespread illegal voting problem. In fact, the problem is, at most, a handful of people, literally.

On the other hand, states that have stringent voter ID laws actually make it demonstrably more difficult for people in poor neighborhoods to vote. For example, requiring a DL to vote but simultaneously shutting down all the DMV offices in poor neighborhoods so that the people there (who often don't have transportation) cannot get to the DMV that is often miles away. There IS documented evidence of this happening.

So, on the whole, this is a non-problem, at least from the illegal voting standpoint.

There is a separate question about whether illegal aliens should have driver's licenses. That is not germane to this discussion.

so explain to me scrum..how a person required to show ID to vote complains its unfair/ discriminatory to them and impossiable to get IDto vote......when that same person has to have ID to cash a check..get cigaretts..alcohol use food stamos get welfare..health care.. put their kids in school..get them free lunch a car loan the list goes on.. Funny how they can manage ID for those reason.. but not to vote. That's a pure bullshit left "story" to use race as a tool in voting.

Honestly, California had a shitty voter turnout compared to its amount of residents. Im not sure if cause they count all the illegal immigrants and then they cant vote so it skews it. But they decide the amount of votes for the electoral college based on population. If they are already using the illegal immigrants for population than its already fucked. You guys have more pull with less voters turning out than other states. Its really BS.

I'm still not sure what the problem is that needs to be solved.

There is no evidence that there is an illegal voter problem. And it's not like it is some kind of nefarious liberal plot. In fact, Kris Kobach, who is as conservative as they come, has not been able to find a single instance of this happening and his task force got shut down.

It seems to me that there are two different things getting conflated.

First, should illegal aliens be allowed to get licenses? That's a separate question that should be examined on its own merit. Nothing to do with illegal voting.

The second question is whether we have a pervasive illegal voting problem. There is no evidence whatsoever of this being a small problem, leave alone one that can actually affect the outcome of an election.

Then why do you come and say that can't get I'd and it stopping them...you know it's bullshit. Be real...I keep saying that. How can a person here not leagle possibly get a license? This makes no sense.its for legal residents of that state. It's an excuse to allow more here and rights that aren't theirs period. Again..I have NO issue with people comming here..
Just follow the damn law. Why is it ok for them to break it? Please explain why it's ok and exceptions should be made for them...but legal state residents have to follow the law and do things according to the law.

                          I guess I'm confused now.

I'm not saying anything about whether or not illegal aliens should allowed to get driver's licenses.

All I am saying is that the leap that is being made in the original article, that allowing them to get driver's licenses will immediately result in a huge illegal voting problem, is not supported by any evidence.

I think the problem is that a license is a safety mechanism that allows individuals who are suited or not suited to drive a motor vehicle for safety reason to be filtered out and tracked. The problem is a driver license is also the number one form of Picture ID in the U.S. and this causes confusion for other purposes where identification is necessary and by having the license it allows certain other rights besides just driving.

Well since the popular vote means shit and the electoral voting counts I don’t see any problem here.
California is a blue state. Doesn’t matter if you have a million voters or 5 million voters outcome will be the same.
