If you have a firearm and a child don't assume "my child knows better". Kids are curious and they do stupid shit to "be cool". Wake the fuck up parents. This is the reason we can't have nice things. Yep! Mine are either on me or locked in a safe. Anyone with kids that does not have them locked up shouldn't own a firearm.

Thankfully I’m still in the super young stages. I will eventually get some sort of little safe for my bedside drawer. I currently have the mag separate from the gun. The gun I usually carry in my bag is in a spot too high to reach and I no longer keep one in the chamber.

I agree with Chadd77. I have three guns my sun is 16 & has two. I keep one with me at all times and the rest is locked up & I keep the key.

I say to myself all the time..my son wouldn't take a gun to harm anyone or play around with one but how do I really know that.

Irresponsible gun owners do nothing but fuel the anti-gunner agenda. They make the rest of us look bad and creates a stereotype another "gun nut". I personally am paranoid when it comes to the safety of my kids and check my gun safe more than once before I go to bed just to make sure I didn't leave the door open somehow. Doesn't that defeat the purpose for home protection? Most safes you can have unlocked in a second. You'd have to grab your gun, get your mag, cycle one into the chamber - then you're ready.

I guess I wouldn’t have enough time if a ninja broke in. I could have it in hand with one in the chamber in 10 seconds. I’m not ready if 8 guys break down the door and storm I while I’m downstairs eating dinner, but that sounds like a low probability of happening.

I’m not in a war zone and I don’t play commando. I gave up reading gun forums and always thinking “Am I prepared for....”.
