  • Help with screwed Metobolic rate...

    Hello all,
I am very new to dieting correctly and need some feedback. Before this for years I only ate once a day (Sometimes twice) and made up for energy loss / strength loss with Ephedrine and various andro stacks.

    I am 30@202lbs 21.0BF

I train weights 5-6 days a week and do cardio for at least 30 minutes a day for six days (usually sprints on a stationary bike).

My nutritional plan calls for 2200 cals a day split into 6 meals. I have been trying my best to get a 40/40/20 carb/pro/fat split. I am gaining weight so far and I am thinking it is because of my meto rate. I will confirm this on Saturday for sure with a fat test and weigh in.

What is the best way to get my meto rate up? Should I do more cardio? Should I increase my food intake temporarily also?

Thanks in advance for any help I can get.

Yea sorry I screwed that up.
40-40-20 is what I meant. When I started I went to extreme and had a 30-60-10. I guess the 60 just stuck in my head.

The first thing I would try is cutting carbs more--I would keep them at about 20% of total calories for several days a week, if not the entire week. I would also try changing up your cardio--do more treadmill or running stuff because it is much more efficient at burning calories.

Incorrect. The efficacy of sprints its far superior to endurance cardio (ie. jogging or treadmill). Calores burned is significant higher, as well as lean muscle preservation.

He's doing biking sprints, which can't be compared to running sprints.

The sprints is about having more oxygen in the blood to oxidize the fat cells. Doing a constant pace of anything will lower the amount of oxygen over any type of sprinting.

jdc30va, I'm assuming your staying indoors to do cardio. Do you have access to an elipitcal? If not I would say stay on the bike.

Yes, but Im certain the intensity level is still higher than that of a endurance run.

Sorry all I figured this thread was dead.

Yes I have only been using the bike inside. Though I am planning to start hitting the road this week instead.

I keep getting different feedback about this. I can tell you I was crashing a bit before when my carbs were really low (No gym energy).

                  General question:
What is a good number of calories to work through during cardio? Then it really doesn't matter what I do if I have that goal in front of me. Should I just be going for as long as I can?

                  Thanks for helping out all
