  • Breakfast alternatives

    Hey everyone. Quick question.

I have been having a problem trying to get some good breakfast ideas, but have sorta hit a wall. I have been eating 1 cup of "Egg Beater" equivalent and 2 slices of non-fat cheese, and a spoonful of natty peanut butter.

I am just looking for some other good ideas... since I don't really like oatmeal.

On that note, do you guys/gals know of a way to make oatmeal taste better? I am all up for trying it out again, since I have had the fear since I was little! lol

oatmeal - someone showed me to put a little splenda and cinnamon... that's about the only way i can eat it now.

i've got no breakfast ideas for ya though... i tend to eat the same things for every meal... so i might have a steak in the morning if that's the easiest to do... :p

Ok... so barring that I don't have TIME to cook steak (either the night before or that morning, and I don't do old steak) is there ANYTHING else.

2 scoops milk isolate protein (vanilla is good), 1/2 cup blueberries and skim milk or water.

I like 1/2 cup oat bran cooked (1 1/4 cup water, boil for one minute) add 1/2 cup of frozen blueberries and then drink a one scoop protein drink too. If you don't like oatmeal you probably won't like oatbran as a hot cereal either. It's more like cream of wheat. You could add some Adkins zero carb pancake syrup but the blueberries have all kinds of good antioxidants and stuff.

I lOVE oatmeal.. its like my comfort food.
try adding in some splenda to sweeten it, either vanilla extract, cinnamon, butterbuds flavouring, raisens(depending on your goals), sugarfree jello pudding mixes(yummy!!).
you can get very creative with oats!

I've tried all the damn shakes, oatmeal and whatnot. But, I just like plain ol' bacon, eggs and toast. Every man should have at least one meal where he isn't looking at food labels and counting calories. Just eat a good breakfast bro. It's liberating.

well in this past months muscle and fitness they had oatmeal eggwhite pancakes, they actually aren't to bad...makes two big pancakes...VERY filling, I just added some extra whey to it to up the protein total and shredded up some apples to give it an apple taste.

                They are very tasty!

Uncle Sam's cereal is good in the morning. Certified low glycemic. I eat it with some mixed vanilla protein powder instead of milk.

I get the 99% lean... or buy the breast and have the butcher turn it in to ground turkey.

You have to read the labels... some are all breast (what I buy) and some are 15%, 10%, half and half, etc.

When I'm rushed, I always like a cup of cottage cheese. Sodium is a little high, but first thing in the morning, that's not too bad. As far as oatmeal alternatives, I read in MD about using pasta in with an omlette. Sounded interesting, although a little labor intensive. I'm open to anything these days

                              My breakfast:

6:00am - 1/2 cup coffee and 1 large bowl of All bran (use Raisin Bran if you like) with skim milk (~ 1.5 cups)
7:15am - 1 protein shake (1 scoop protein powder with 1 cup skim milk), and 1 orange
7:30 am - go to work.....

Next meal is at 9:30-10:00am - 1 serving of brown rice with vegetables and lentils.

                              I am vegetarian and natural.....
