  • Cottage Cheese

I purchased some Cottage Cheese the other day for it's Protein content, but I noticed the sodium ingrident was a bit high, I think. It says that 1 serving (1/2 cup) contains 400mg of sodium. Is this high?

Thanks in advance for the feed back.

Sodium content in foods is not something I even consider unless I'm prepping.

Yep. Although whether I'm bulking or cutting, my dairy intake all the time is very minimal. 2 tbps of whipping cream MAYBE. Too much sugar in dairy.

if you are young and don't have pre-existing hypertension don't worry about a bit of sodium:)
unless you are manipulating sodium levels for contest or other reasons it is not a problem. . cottage cheese is great before bed as it is slow digesting. . .

          Cottage cheese is awesome.

Get the 2% Fat one, and have few servings a day. Good source of protein & low fat.

You know, I've tried mixing it with peaches and/or pineapples and it still tastes nasty! Anyone have any suggestions? And BTW, this is not a highjack.

this may sound disgusting to some people, but bare with me...

i usually like to cut up some fruit in it (peaches, strawberrys, blueberrys) and then add a packet of equal. just try it and see what you think....

The best thing is a box of sugar free jello, cottage cheese, and splenda. Throw it all together, and blend the hell out of it. It ends up to become almost pudding like in consitency. I eat this every night before bed.

what ever you mix up just make sure to add something sweet to the blend cause the cottage cheese by it self if kindof crappy

I used to mix protein powder and fat free sugar free jello into my cottage cheese with a blender - tastes like desert.

                              Recipe:
                              Ingredients:
1 cup cottage cheese (ff or low fat)
                              1/2 cup skim milk
                              1-2 scoops favorite protein powder
2 T ff, sf jello (similar flavor to protein powder)
sweeten to taste with favorite sweetener

                              Directions:
Put cottage cheese in food processor and blend unitl smooth (2-3 minutes). Add milk and sweetener, continue to blend. Add protein powder and ff, sf jello, blend some more. Put in bowl, chill for 15 min. before eating. Yummy!
