The point of this thread is not to say "look how good this food looks". It's to show people on a strict budget that you can make it work and get the protein you need. No excuses.

When I make threads I don't only make them for the regular members here. I make them for visitors and guests who have come across this site or this thread by searching google for "protein on a budget". That's the aim. To offer people ideas and options who are just starting out or simply don't know.

Tell me the recipe. Is it good with ginger ale. I wanna try it with this non alcoholic ginger beer I got and some sweet baby rays bbq sauce.

                    1 bottle BBQ sauce
                    1 chopped onion
9 hours on low in crock pot. (Don't touch it, stir it, or open top, just let it do its magic.)
                    Serve over rice.

Just throw those ingredients into a crock pot and cook low heat for 9-10 hours.

I'm getting burnt out on Chicken. Thinking of drastically changing our diet when I get out of school and raising my daughter as a pescatarian.

Had to look that up. Fish only.. Yea you'll stick to that for about a year before you go for a burger and cake...

Seriously what makes you think you wouldn't get burnt out on that just like you have with chicken?

Too difficult to find healthy fish sources. So many contaminated fish. Heavy metals and such. No farm raised fish, only certain fish from certain waters are healthy to eat in any large quantities etc. How about a well balanced, varied diet? Chicken, occasional fish, lean beef, lean cuts of pork etc ? Even throwing in quinoa and rice and beans, eggs.
Just a thought. Also as Bouncer said I think basing your diet on any one sole protein source would result in "burnout".

Daughter would be mostly vegetarian with fish a couple of times a week.

I would basically quit chicken and stick with fish, beef, and some pork products. I don't know. Just kicking around ideas.

You bring up a lot of good points. I still have a ton of research to do.
