Um yea..... so Tripper hit the nail on the head, totally bogus. As with any medication, commercial or prescription, there are side effects.... do the gains/benefits outweigh them? That varies from person to person.

Regardless, Spidey summed it up nicely.

I'm not flaming you, Cogar, but it just goes to show that there can be a lot of shared symptoms for a vast number of products out there. Most of these listed symptoms are also indicative of a well known (and contrary to US FDA statements) substance that can surface with an associative overdose. That substance is known as Aspartame- the artificial sweetener used in over 900 food products- aka Nutrasweet.

When aspartame is heated above 86 degrees F, it releases wood alcohol into the beverage. An example would be a case (or a single can) of diet coke or pepsi sitting out in the hot sun or even a warehouse for a period of time before refrigeration or even making a bowl of jello with Nutrasweet as the artificial sweetening agent. That same wood alcohol contained in the aspartame/Nutrasweet/Equal will convert to formaldehyde, and formic acid. This can be a concentrated dose of methyl alcohol toxicity that can conceivably even kill people. If someone is primarily getting their fluids from products like Diet Pepsi or Diet Coke (which contain aspartame) they can build up a dangerous level of toxicity in their system which can lead to headaches, dizzyness, nausea, sudden collapse, seizures, heart arythmias, blindness and even death.

Here's an example of how the FDA can be totally fucked up- or bought to declare a substance safe for human consumption:

The FDA states that up to 50mg daily of aspartame is perfectly safe for human consumption. However, an EPA assessment of methanol states that methanol "is considered a cumulative poison due to the low rate of excretion once it is absorbed. In the body, methanol is oxidized to formaldehyde and formic acid; both of these metabolites are toxic." They (EPA) recommend a limit of consumption of approximately 5 mg/day. A one-liter aspartame-sweetened beverage contains about 56 mg of methanol. Heavy users of aspartame-containing products (5 cans of soda a day)consume as much as 250 mg of methanol daily or 50 times the EPA limit.

...and the FDA has the balls to outlaw something like ephedrine but leave this shit in the products that we and our children consume? Then again, G.D. Searle has a shitload of money and a few months after, hired away the key FDA people who helped pass the chemical off as safe for human consumption in the first place. What a joke...a sad joke.

To get back on topic (blush), I don't put much stock in anything that I've read from Nelson Montana. And as for everyone reacts differently to stuff, I'd have to agree- within reasonable measure. I dunno why, but I'd speculate that some of it has to do with genetic predisposition to different substances introduced to the body environment. A good example would be with certain types of cancer (which I have first hand experience with) in which, people can be exposed to the same levels of a contaminant (trigger) and some get an affiliated type of cancer while others do not. That is in part, because of the gentic disposition of each individual either qualifies or precludes one from developing said cancer after identical exposure and contaminant levels. So, one person can smoke 2 packs of cgarettes a day and not get lung cancer but a family member may not smoke yet develop lung cancer from second-hand exposure. Maybe this sounds like bull or I haven't adequately stated a solid case, as it may be beyond my abilities here on this board but I have been involved in numerous cancer research studies and these types of overall findings were made after extensive research.

Maybe I shouldn't take in so much aspartame in a day.
