  • Knee injury

I have an odd injury and I'm wondering if any of you can shed some light on it for me. The pain comes from behind my knee in the crease of my upper and lower right leg. I experince no pain at all until I bring my knee up in a swift motion. At the top section of the movement I experience tremendous pain and then it goes away when my leg is straightened.

I am not sure how this came about, but I noticed it a few days ago when training Muay Thai and doing some knee strikes. I have since stopped using my right knee until it heals. I can do the rest of my Muay thai workout with out any pain as long as I have no missed kicks and don't use my right knee to strike with.

Is this just a strained muscle or ligament, or is there a name for something like this?

    Thanks,
    B

I have been having a similar problem for a while. A couple of times it has been so bad that I couldn't even bend my leg back to put socks on without a lot of pain. I have found lately that laying leg curls and calf raises trigger the pain and stiffness. Whether it is just a strain or something more serious, I don't know. Been debating to go to a doctor.

I think I am going to give it a week or so of some rest and put some linament on it during that time. I'll see how it feels after next week and if the pain is still there I'll go hit up the Dr.

I haven't done any weight lifting since August so the only movements I have done have been more of a repetition than resistance, other than the impact with the bag which adds some resistance.

The best thing you can do is have an MRI done so that you can see if there is any real damage done to a ligament or tendon!!! Give it a week like you say and if it comes back...have the MRI!!! I went years with a partial tear in my Meniscus, after awhile I ended up tearing it completely and blowing out my ACL!!! That really hurt...so don't put it off for too long!!!
