MDAM21 for years i thought it was my chest because proportianatly my bench press is alot weaker than the rest of my body. i can only bench 250lbs for 3 sets of 4 reps, but i can squat 340 lbs for 3 sets at 5 reps. but just recently i realized it was my tris that are weak so i,ve been doing alot of explosive lifting for them. trying to get them muuuuch stronger. as for size i have no idea, i dont measure myself, i just look in the mirror and gauge my progress by how much weight i can press with good form
I am just the opposite. My chest is weaker than I would like and my arms always grow nicely without even trying (20"). I am guessing that I can close-grip 80% of my bench which is a little disproportionate stregnth-wise.

I don't think he was talking about strength so whatever you can bench has nothing to do with the size of your chest. how will explosive lifting get a muscle stronger if all you are doing is using the stretch reflex, momentum and body swing to get the weight up instead of your muscle?

I guess I should restate that. Basically My chest is a weak spot for me both in size and strength. I have chest developement but it is comparitively slow. My arms, tris especially grow if I think about doing work on them. I have a particularly difficult time getting the upper-inside portion of my pecs to respond. Any suggestions?

get some different parents. Its tough to change the shape of a muscle because all the body is capable is putting on more muscle so basically you are looking to add muscle everywhere. I would try a close grip bench on a machine, just use a free bar and set it in between the handles and do close grips, it might help overall development.
My chest is definetely my weakest body part, although it's starting to improve dramatically now in the size department but not in the strength department.

your right he was talking about size not strength. but i've always found it's easier to get bigger once i'm stronger. but thats just me. as for explosive lifting i think my defenitition is different from yours. i pause at the bottom of every negative contraction. then with as perfect form as i can get, i push up as hard and with as much power as i can, but everything is in control and whichever muscle im using is isolated, i dont use any momentum at all. what were u thinking i did??
I just got to say it's cool to see so many people responding. I didn't think i would get more than a couple responses. Most guys I know have too big of an ego to admit a weak bodypart even if it is glaringly obvious. I think realizing and admitting it is the only way to psychologically muster the strength to overtake these deficiencies. Good luck to everybody.
Biceps definatly lacking...everything but biceps growing, now that i am squeezing more after every rep, im hoping it will make more difference. got a huge chest and tri's, but make a double bi pose and im like god damnit
