  • Squat Question

I am getting more into squats in recent months and have noticed something when I lift. I am really "feeling it" in the upper, upper part of my quad, like right around where my legs meet my hips or just below. It is especially so on my left (weaker) leg.

My question, is this normal? What is causing me to feel it more in the upper leg where there doesn't seem to be as much muscle? Is there bad form that would cause this?

are you feeling it in your muscle or close to the muscle insertion that goes into the hip...if you can find a anatomy figure and post it and point to where you feel it, it might help.

your feeling it in your hip flexors...yes this means you are probably squatting correctly. make sure your knees dont come passed your toes and go deep enough.

is this is myth or is it true on not going over the toes. I find it difficult doing that. I go right about or an inch over and feel it awesome

i used to feel it that way before bro. Ru going paralell to the ground or doing partial reps not going all the way, a full squat. What I started doing was going paralell and sticking my butt out a little more while doing the squats. I feel it over all more, my hams and quads working great.

I usually train in a rack and judge the depth by setting the bottom bars so i hit just below parrallel. I also believe in not having the knees not passing the toes. Tends to put pressure under the knees. I do find that regular back squats tend to work my hips, but and hams more than my quads. I add Zerchers and Front squats to further kill the quads. Deep Zercher squats are the best.
