  • Frequent Neck Issues

So, I tend to have a lot of minor neck issues. Anything from stingers, to general soreness, to strained muscles. Does anyone specifically train the muscles in their neck and if so what type exercises do you do?

any exercise that specifically works your neck is going to put your neck in bad positions. not the best idea.

Have you ever seen a chiropractor?

        No I've never seen one.

So what are some exercises that indirectly work the neck?

shrugs ect.. you really shouldn't be concerned about working the neck. i also think you should see a physical therapist and stop trying to do things that you "think" will help. you are going to hurt yourself even more by trying stuff like that.

I've played competitive sports year round since I was like 6...alot of the issues come from that. It might seem like I've got alot of injuries, but it's not that bad. You would never know by looking at me that I have any issues. They are probably more in my head. My training habits are fine. I think my neck issues might be a result of my back problem. But I play basketball and soccer on a weekly basis and I might just be a little beat up right now, IDK!

There isn't anything you can do for it. The advise away from surgery unless absolutely necessary. You can do PT and I have been somewhat with stretches. Other than that, it is what it is. What type of help were you thinking?

physical therapy. a good physical therapist would help a great deal, no doubt.

                      I don't understand this statement?

is he saying that he has previous CHRONIC pain resultant from past injuries or is he saying that he always manages to just tweak his neck or it gets sore and he wants to make it stronger and more resilient?

he has issues with his spine and he is looking for workouts that work the neck specifically. kind of like putting weight on your head or the old fashioned "neck machine". not a good idea when you have issues like he does.

Both Stonecold. I tweak my neck and feel that it could be stronger. I have no idea if it is caused by issues with my lower back or not. In general, I wanted to strengthen it to avoid some of these little tweaks that I feel happen too easily.

this is why you should see a physical therapist. he would give you a better understanding of what is going on and how to fix it.
