So, I tend to have a lot of minor neck issues. Anything from stingers, to general soreness, to strained muscles. Does anyone specifically train the muscles in their neck and if so what type exercises do you do?

shrugs ect.. you really shouldn't be concerned about working the neck. i also think you should see a physical therapist and stop trying to do things that you "think" will help. you are going to hurt yourself even more by trying stuff like that.Originally posted by grnmchnNo I've never seen one.
So what are some exercises that indirectly work the neck?

u got that right, bro i think you got some bad training habits you need to curb or you'll end up with some real problems. @ 26 you seem pretty bang'd up do you play ball?Originally posted by THE BOUNCERany exercise that specifically works your neck is going to put your neck in bad positions. not the best idea.

I've played competitive sports year round since I was like 6...alot of the issues come from that. It might seem like I've got alot of injuries, but it's not that bad. You would never know by looking at me that I have any issues. They are probably more in my head. My training habits are fine. I think my neck issues might be a result of my back problem. But I play basketball and soccer on a weekly basis and I might just be a little beat up right now, IDK!Originally posted by NYCmitch25u got that right, bro i think you got some bad training habits you need to curb or you'll end up with some real problems. @ 26 you seem pretty bang'd up do you play ball?

physical therapy. a good physical therapist would help a great deal, no doubt.Originally posted by grnmchnThere isn't anything you can do for it. The advise away from surgery unless absolutely necessary. You can do PT and I have been somewhat with stretches. Other than that, it is what it is. What type of help were you thinking?

I don't understand this statement?Originally posted by THE BOUNCERany exercise that specifically works your neck is going to put your neck in bad positions. not the best idea.
is he saying that he has previous CHRONIC pain resultant from past injuries or is he saying that he always manages to just tweak his neck or it gets sore and he wants to make it stronger and more resilient?

he has issues with his spine and he is looking for workouts that work the neck specifically. kind of like putting weight on your head or the old fashioned "neck machine". not a good idea when you have issues like he does.Originally posted by Stonecold54I don't understand this statement?
