  • Constantly tired and fatigued after legs.

Everytime I train legs heavy I am extremely tired, fatigued, and all around unmotivated to do anything for the next two days. Doesn't help that I get a restless feeling in my quads at night (which keeps me up at times) but even when I manage to get a full night sleep, I still feel fatigued.

Does this happen to anyone else? Anyone have an explanation as to why this happens? Does it have to do with glycogen levels? Lactic Acid? ???

    Thanks.

what do you do for the workout - when you say the restless feeling, do you have this any other time in the week - like an RLS feeling ?

Squats, hack squat, leg press, leg ext, lying hamstring curls, standing hamstring curls.. That's generaly my work out. Every other week I'll substitute the hack or the press for lunges and curls or standing for stiff legged deads.

I do have a history of getting that restless feeling in my quads, especially on long plane rides - it's the fkn worst!.. I've read up on RLS and based on what I've read I my symptons do match however I've never gone further then reading on the internet.

I should clarify that I don't ALWAYS get that restless feeling at night and when it does seem to be brought on following leg exercise it doesn't always bother me as bad as at other times following leg exercise.

doing to much for legs IMO.

cut out one of the pressing movements. do squats and leg press one week, then squats, hack squats the next week etc..

lying hamstring curls and standing are hitting the exact same muscles so cut one of them out.

your doing to much and stressing your nervous system..

yeah bro, that's an awful lot of heavy lifts - maybe try isolating quads and calves on one day - then throwing in hams on back day, like stiff leg deads etc. Sorry about the restless legs tho man, I've dealt with it and it's SO frustrating.

*edit* - also I found that magnesium really did help w/my legs bro, granted magnesium isn't for everyone - but if you have a bloodwork ask about your levels. Good luck

Happens to me every once in a while. it happens when i train back and bi's especially.

I used to black out in the locker room sitting down, tunnel vision followed by blurry vison, and than hearing goes out.

10min later I am fine and just go about my day

So over training legs seems to be the consensus? I'll split up my quads and hamstrings and eliminate and rotate hacks with press and lunges. See if that makes a difference. I will add though that even before I started training the way I do now, I still had these issues. It seems whenever I'm at all sore in my quads, I have this problem of fatigue.

Any other ideas why this feeling fatigue hits me hard after heavy leg days?

What are you eating for recovery? I take a couple of aspirin when my legs start acting up at night and it helps enough I can sleep otherwise I am kicking all night.

                  we have winner here!

You workload is way to high, most likely straining the perhiperal nervous system in the lumbar complex.

I would still get bloodwork done to see if there are any hidden factors behind the chronic fatigue.

As far as pain relief, I find that Alleve helps me when my legs start acting up. However, when the fatigue sets in, caffeine certainly helps me stay awake but I still feel drained.

I started taking Glutamine PWO with my shake. Not sure if that's gonna help or not but couldn't hurt.

Thanks for the information. I'll take it down a notch from here on out.

I've been meaning to see my doctor as of late because of chronic heart burn. Although I don't think what I have is chronic fatigue as it only comes about post leg exercise, I will definitely bring it up with him.

Nah not much of the coffee drinker. I just completed back to back 14 day treatments of otc prilosec and it's been about 2.5 weeks with minimal heartburn. Nothing a glass of milk can't stop anyway. So far so good.

To further on my fatigue after legs, over the past two weeks I've cut down my leg work outs to squats, leg press or lunges, extensions, calves on one day and hamstrings and calves on another day. Over the past two weeks i've also cut down on the weight a bit just to give myself a break and while not completely gone, I still had the same fatigue for 2 days following legs.

My chiropractor / physical therapist said my problem could be due to a build up of lactic acid in my legs that's released during my leg exercise and that riding bike and stretching immediately after doing legs should help. Just so happens that the last two leg days I had to get out of the gym asap and didn't have time. I'll give it a shot next week.

Anyone have any input on the possibility that my fatigue after legs may be caused by ammonia build up in my body? I read this week that too much ammonia can cause extreme fatigue. Thoughts?

                              Thnx
