Ok I just got back into training again last week was my first week of training.
I'm currently planning to use this split

    Mon-triceps/biceps
    Tues- legs
    Wed.- off
    Thurs-chest\shoulders
    Fri-back

would this split work? I'm just hoping not to be overtraining anything. I know triceps get hit in chest workouts , biceps get hit in back workouts and shoulders get hit by bicep and chest workouts right? Another concern is when I worked out my biceps last week I couldn't do more than 8 sets total before my biceps gave out.I only did dumbbell curls and concentration curls.I got a good pump and my biceps were sore for 4 days though. Don't I need at least 12 sets? I'm not using excessive weight either. What could be the issue

looks like a nice split although I think your gonna struggle on pressing weight when it comes to shoulders

I was thinking that too due to the fact I'll do shoulders after chest. What about my bicep training problem? I can only do 8 sets total for some reason is that too low?

I have the same with biceps, it's not like 8 sets aren't much.

I manage to do shoulders on chest day if I adjust my chest workout so that my shoulders are not too tired to begin with, which means that I won't combine flat and incline bench.

yeah 8 sets is only 4 sets shy of a total workout but it would be nice to put in 12 sets.I guess as long as the muscle gets worked hard enough it shouldn't matter. Thanks for your reply.

I have heard many times that squats and deadlifts are key if you want to be able to reach your growth potential. My problem is I work my legs but I'm afraid to do squats cause I had neck surgery and I'm afraid of having the bar pushing down on my neck.Do I need to do squats to built great arms and an overall great physique?

i don't believe that myth for a second.

dorian yates hated squats. never did them.

you have to train legs, hack squat machine, legs press, leg extensions etc..

but at the end of the day, the whole "sqauts make your upper body grow" is bs.

I think it's more that squats help your upper body grow. Similar too unilateral resistance training increasing contralateral strength. Part of that being body symmetry and physical homeostasis and the other part being increased blood flow and nutrient stimulation during your upper body recovery.
