  • What if your shoulder hurts?

During the last weeks, whenever I'm doing bench press or shoulder press, my right shoulder muscle kinda aches. When I lift my right arm up sideways, I hear a very subtle cracking sound. What could this be, and what do do about this?

Are there any ways to prevent stuff like this in the future, as in warm-up or stretching or whatever?

stop what makes it hurt for a month or so. give it some time to rest.

instead of free weigh bench and shoulder press do cables and go a little lighter. free weights put more strain on the joints.

take something like "Triple Flex" made by natures best. you can get it at the drug store.

the main thing though is cutting out the free weight exercises that make it hurt.

Allright, so I've switched from bench press to chest press, from flyes to lady butterfly and still doing normal dips.

The chest press still seems to put some strain on the shoulder, although I went light. Should I go even lighter? I suppose have to keep doing something that resembles the movement.

Also, can I drop direct shoulder work altogether until it gets better?

take a week off from the gym all together.

let the shoulder rest. were you able to look into buying a joint suppliment like i told you?

chest movements hurt your shoulder just as much as shoulder movements so just stop it all together for a week.

do you have cables? use them.

You should add rotator cuff exercises to your warm up this will help prevent and rehab shoulder injury.

I already took a week off, last week.

                I took an anti-infection pill.

Are cables better than machines for this? I don't see how you would replace bench with a cable exercise, but I could replace flyes with crossovers.

Try these Rotator Cuff Strengthening Exercises

I do them before any kind of shoulder movement (all upper body) exercise I usually do 3 sets of 10 or 15 and only use 5 to 8 lbs

anti infection pill? what the hell does that have to do with shoulder pain? lol.

you can do cable flat press just like on a bench.

                      Not at my gym.

The pill is against muscle infection, on doctor's advice.

well sorry bro but that will do nothing for you.

your shoulder muscle is not infected. its inflamed do to overuse thus causing pain. has nothing to do with infection.

you need to be on anti inflammatorys and a natural joint suppliment.

lol @ doctors advice in your country.

yea bro take some time off. I shattered my A.C joint in 2006 and had to have a 1/4 inch of my clavical removed and shoulder capsul shaved you dont want to over due a sore shoulder anti inflammitory is the best bet and ice it 20min on and 20min off. listen to your body and know your limits wish i would of. also try some glucosamine an chondrointin it will help with joint pains and you can get it at a local nutritional store.

On a corrective note here: apparently my English translation sucked, what I meant was an anti-inflammatory pill.
