  • how many take breaks

Last year I started taking taking a week off from traing every 2 months after lifting heavy and hard and noticed that everytime I come back Im fuller, stronger, and just have an all around better feeling. Do any of you guys take time off after a set time training? On the week off I still eat good, but try and get as much sleep at night as I can plus a nap every day even if its just for 30min to an hour nap.

i listen to my body. if i am feeling beat down i will take 3-4 days off.

you get nothing out of training when you are over trained.

I take a week off every few months or so. Usually you will fell this fatigue feeling that won't go away unless you take off a little bit.

Depends what you call a break. I haven't cycled for 6 months, been training 1-2 times a week and not eating, to me thats a break.

I have exams twice a year so usually I either take off way too long or take off one week and then visit the gym occasionnaly for the remaining month or so, which leads me to beleive that I don't require any extra laying-off throughout the year.

I take the week before a powerlifting comp off after a 6 week peak cycle. I used to take every 9th week off not sure if it helped me of not. I always hated not going to the gym.

I was gonna start a thread kinda like this but since its here I will just comment.
I have had close to 9 months off of real weight training (body building) and I am back probably a month now? anyways at first I was saying fuck this shit is heavy and it sucks, lol well now I am close to all the weight I used to lift when on gear and I am clean.
Yesterday I did quads and I squated 405 for 12reps kinda easy not realy but kinda. My max is 455 for 8 reps I have a feeling in another month I will do that no problem.

So yes I am a beliver in time off now. Maybe not 9 months but a good break for sure.
side note I was still working out thoes 9 months but more muscle conditioning and cardio.

:agreed: I was 245 prolly 15-20%BF before I got injured and couldn't lift now after 5 months I am doing my same weight, am back to 240 lbs and and am way leaner than when I started. That was when I became a believer of time off.

Bouncer when you go injured how did you respond after the time off?
